If they don't get Suzuki about the only FA outfielder I think they would pursue is Rosario or then again maybe a trade but the more likely scenario is to fill it from within, give Solak or a prospect a chance. As far as Willie goes he needs a new zipcode in Japan or Korea as far as I'm concerned. I predicted when they got him he wouldn't be what they thought they were getting and that was him being an important/stable member of the team, he's too fragile/whiny...
we just solidified our infield with the addition of Semien and Seager with both Lowe and Jung being + fielders. our outfield is solid with Garcia in Right and Taveras in Center but putting Solak or one of the Calhoun's would be a negative.

i agree Willie needs a change of scenery

Kole is almost strictly a RFer he has only played LF/CF for a handful of games that's why I mentioned Solak. They want to keep him to see if his hitting gets better (his hitting was the main reason they traded for him cause he stinks at 2nd) and he's played LF, but probably not enough games to get real comfortable there. I imagine they're going to stick him in LF come ST and let him sink or swim there as a backup or starter...

I played strictly CF for 20 years and had to fill in one time in LF, I bet I looked like a rookie out there taking wrong routes and playing way too deep it takes awhile to get used to new scenery...

So we are all in different players camps and there are 2022 plans and 2023 contingent on getting Suzuki or not. So what do we have now. Tavares who has not proven to be ready but if is he is the preferred CF. García who is great in RF but might be more valuable in CF and a lot of maybes minus Kole whose history is at RF
Willie Calhoun while subpar defensively is still ahead of no arm Solak at LF

Willie C ceiling is higher and yes his fragility gives him a shorter leash and adequate in LF
Meanwhile Suzuki profiles best at RF although maybe LF is an option

Not saying too much as so many contingencies. Guess we see who we pick up and which bat pans out

we're better off with Taveras in Center and Garcia in Right. less chance of Garcia hurting himself

Re Willie.
If we were seriously thinking a making a playoff run this year, I get just writing him off but to me this year is still a rebuild so if he is on roster let’s see what he can do. Guess most of you disagree
And if we get Suzuki, things could change drastically if Tavares is ready. We shall see

I'm guessing some people feel the same about Willie as some felt about Gallo...

At least we got something out of Gallo when he left...

limited number of rosters spots (25 or 26). carry 13 pitchers, 9 positional players + 4 bench.

He can also play CF cause he has the speed from what I've read...

And Garcia has played a little bit of LF too...

I would figure they would want to use whoever has the strongest/more accurate arm in RF cause the LF throws "usually" don't require that type of arm. But from what I can tell they both have really good arms so all I can say is "base runners beware" no matter where those two end up playing... :D

i checked and Suzuki has played all the OF positions and even played some 2B so playing left shouldn't be a problem for him.

The BA Top 10 Rangers Prospect list is out. I am sure it is behind a pay wall. Here is what Adam Morris had to say about it.

Baseball America’s top 10 Texas Rangers prospect list for 2022 is out today, and as would be expected, Jack Leiter is at the top of the list, followed by Josh Jung and Cole Winn — the consensus top three prospects in the Rangers’ organization.

Of note with Jung — who BA thinks will start the 2022 season in Round Rock — is that he had, per their write-up on him, a 91.1 mph average exit velocity in 2021. That will play, and bodes well for his ability to be a solid middle of the order bat for the Rangers.

The biggest surprise on the list, for me, was Dustin Harris cracking the top five — obviously, Harris generated a lot of talk here in 2021, and he has a lot of helium, but I was not expecting him to be a top five guy in the system. Also of note is Evan Carter, who made the top 10 list despite missing most of 2021 with a back issue, and who also registered an average exit velocity of 91 mph.

all good news, although i personally expect Jung to at least start the season at 3rd with the Rangers

I have never had the level of hopes for him that several have had.

It has been said that the rangers out of perhaps necessity of brought their players up too soon. Leody, Huff probably pitching

Not sure this applies to Jung though. Wondering if there is anything else to learn exceptmaybe a second position if they don’t plan on him sticking at 3B for multiple years To me that is a long shot

i would rather not pencil him in either but if your solution is to put Garcia there then i'm against that too. hopefully we get Suzuki and put him in Left and Garcia in Right and find a better solution for CF. Willie is not a solution to anything and Kole gets injured too much for him to be considered a full-time outfielder (only played less than 90 games for Arizona in 2020 and 2021 out of 202 total games because of injuries). that narrows it down to Taveras in CF,
