I wonder why Seager isn't playing 2B with Semien playing SS.

The reason why we have had such a problem developing very good corner players is because we have under drafted them by over emphasizing other positions.

Finally, we drafted a corner guy with our top pick and he has performed better offensively than anyone we have drafted in several years. I hope we do not go back to overemphasizing up the middle guys.

Here is a small excerpt from Jeff Wilson's report this morning. His article deals with the Kole Calhoun signing.

"And, here’s another benefit of the one-year Calhoun deal: Maybe he does keep a spot warm for the return of Joey Gallo in 2023."

That ought to brighten your Friday. Lol

i think that to get the max out of Kole the Rangers plan on using him most of the time at DH

He really needs to improve his hitting to stick anywhere.
True but a light hitting catcher is a lot easier to carry than a 1B

We have two of those now.
True again but if he can catch he will likely get a shot. Have to think he has more hitting promise than the current addition.

So in summary, my hope is Huff can catch and hit. Otherwise at 1B, I have little hope for him

If Huff can be slightly above avg defense catcher and hit .245/.325/.450 with 30 HRs I’ll be happy

At this point I have a lot more hope for both Crimm and Harris as possible first basemen. Huff has to be able to catch again and hit a lot better for me to have anywhere close to the same hope that I used to have for him. Maybe, last year was just an aberration for him.

Jeff Wilson had some notes about some of the Rangers MIF prospects. I will take the next few posts to pass some of his ideas along.

The early thought from fans and media types, including this one, after the Rangers’ spending spree was that Foscue would move from second base to first base. That might eventually be what happens.

But the Rangers see more value in him defensively at third base, where he played some in college at Mississippi State, and are likely to try him there initially. Left field would be another possibility, but he’s had some foot issues that might make the Rangers think twice.

The Rangers are certain that Foscue is a quality big-league player because of his bat. Some have projected him to be a middle-of-the-order bat with 30 home runs a season with a .300 average.
