All this shows is how metrics have shaped the game.Year-by-year look at the latest threat to hit .400 since Ted Williams in 1941
Hitting .400 for a season is quite the feat. In fact, no qualified hitter has done it since Ted Williams hit .406 in 1941. Many have tried in that span, but none has succeeded. Here are the most team games into a season that a qualified player has hit atwww.mlb.com
Yes he has hit leadoff and done a decent job over the years but he's 34 and starting to have injury issues IKF led off and batted 2nd quite a bit but he hit way better in the 7 slot last year. Nobody else seems to have batted leadoff for any amount of time or with much success so it seems as if the cupboard is kinda bare in that respect...Closest thing to a lead off hitter there is K. The perfect scenario for them is Taveras comes into ST plays like a beast and shows he can hit MLB pitching and handle leadoff, I give that about a 20% chance of happening but you never know...
It's why I advocate for Strawwhich is why i see him as a DH for us.
Taveras is the only answer we have right now unless we trade for a leadoff CF
not as enamored with him as some but what would you offer for him? It's why I advocate for Straw
You still prefer at least a guy that can get on base at a reasonable clip to set the table in front of your big hitters, and I don't see much of that currently on this rosterJust find a player, at each position, good enough to start on a WS team, and then figure out who should lead off amongst those nine.
You don’t find much pickings on A 100+ loss team. So as said going to be your next starting CF other than AdolisYou still prefer at least a guy that can get on base at a reasonable clip to set the table in front of your big hitters, and I don't see much of that currently on this roster
We have a long ways to go to get our roster where it needs to be. I think when we get that, things like who leads off will take care of itself. You still prefer at least a guy that can get on base at a reasonable clip to set the table in front of your big hitters, and I don't see much of that currently on this roster
Andrus and Kinsler were lead off hitters for us several years ago. Here is a comparison of their minor league OBP to Josh Smith's OBP.The 2023 leadoff hitter could be Josh Smith, as a centerfielder.
