It's ludicrous to think that this is the biggest free agent class in years, and the first mega contract signed is a guy who was already under contract for the next few years.

Not sure what to think with looming CBA and yes this is a long term contract first for a young guy. Of course I want the Rangers to go young if possible. It's ludicrous to think that this is the biggest free agent class in years, and the first mega contract signed is a guy who was already under contract for the next few years.

Just so much to do and uncertainty in the days ahead. It seems like JJ Abrams had an off
year but something of this sort may be a route that needs to be at least a plan B option.
In this league you really need a very good shortstop
ha yes perhaps he contemplated a career change or…..maybe I meant CJI'm a bit lost about the bolded parts

Me, still waiting for the Rangers to make a great FA acquisition.
I would expect him to have an ERA close to 4.00 and to be a great influence on our young starters. If we did sign Kershaw to a 1/$20
What kind of production would you expect from him?
Will his arm be healthy enough to pitch 25 games?
Yeah, I would take Suzuki for now whether anyone considers him great or not. Let's go ahead and make it two signings out of Japan and grab Martinez too.You don't even need the word great, and that's me.
i doubt that would even get a real interest. we are talking about Clayton KershawI would expect him to have an ERA close to 4.00 and to be a great influence on our young starters.
I think we probably have to give him either two years or one year with a very makeable vesting option for another year or two. Maybe 2 for $45 million gets it done. One year for $25 with that vesting option is a possibility.

no problem with Suzuki but i would rather see us go after Kershaw and Stroman if we're going with 2 FA pitchersYeah, I would take Suzuki for now whether anyone considers him great or not. Let's go ahead and make it two signings out of Japan and grab Martinez too.

I think he gets a better deal than Verlander once he proves he is healthy. Verlander is a much safer bet after undergoing an established procedure. Kershaw is a very big risk not having had the surgery. All things equal, Kershaw gets the better deal, but I think they are far from being equal this offseason. He will be seeking a deal better than Verlander's, in my opinion.
Part of me wishes if this new CBA doesn't get agreed on by about Dec. 10th, that it goes into April without being settled. Then maybe next time they get more serious about it much earlier.
