there seems to be several reporters that are thinking that Texas may try and sign both Story and Semien

Wouldn’t be upset at all if we signed Semien and Story. Then Suzuki and one SP.
Trade IKF, Solak and Calhoun for another bat or further away prospects.

Word to the wise: wouldn't expect much of a haul for those 3

Yeah Solak and Calhoun probably not.
Ikf would be a nice player to build a package around though.
IKF, Brett Martin and another player the acquiring team needs might be able to fetch a decent return though.

texas might have to build a package of IKF, Alexy, Burke and a couple others to get a decent OF/bat.

Wonder what it would take to get Lars Newtbar from the Cardinals?
He might be a player that’s about to take off.

I don't want to add any more players that might take off

I’d rather trade for Bryan Reynolds but if we are looking to trade some of our depth I wouldn’t mind getting other depth in areas of need.
He’s only 23 and hit decent for his rookie year.

I would rather have Lars Nootbar on the roster than DJ Peters, Eli white or Willie Calhoun.

I would even entertain the idea that Lars Nootbar will be more productive over the next 4 years than Adolis Garcia will be.

He is not quite as hard fast on things as you methinks.
I hope you realize the best offer may not land the FA. There might be personal preferences.
As such some plan B’s should be in order
If we have the best offer for all three and they turn us down then there is nothing that can be done. That is very unlikely to be the case though.

I am hoping these guys pan out especially the pitching. We have had guys like Nomar and Joey, Olt even Profar do some degree that had all the tools to be difference makers.
I thought we gave up too much going after guys like Coke but Alfaro and Brinson never turned into winning pieces.

I love the guys in MILB we have probably the best well balanced for a bit but nothing is for certain.

We get one superstar and all other teams just pitch around him. We need a full stack and hope we get there
Yes, everything can fall apart, but it is unlikely. 5 free agents can fall apart too. Anyone can play the pessimism card and say that everything is going to not work. That can be said of 15 prospects or it can be said of 4 or 5 free agents.

I think anyone can see that our system is much deeper than it was when Brinson and Alfaro headlined things. Some of them will fail. If Foscue, Carter, Crim, Harris, Hauver, and Zavala all fail we will still be in great shape. If Roby, Henriquez, Rodriguez, Kent, Alexy, Otto, Dunning, Ragans, and Weems all fail we will still be in great shape.

I want 2 superstars and one or two stars in free agency, not just one. I also expect us to produce 3 or 4 offensive stars from our system and 3 or 4, or more, starting pitching stars from our system.

2024 lineup and rotation

C trade acquisituon
1B Harris/Crim/Huff
2B Foscue/Smith/Duran
3B Jung
SS Free Agent
LF Free Agent
RF Garcia
CF Trade or Free Agent
DH. Wendzel, Zavala, Hauver

SP. Leiter, Winn, Vanasco, White, Roby, Alexy, Kent, Henriqiez, Acker, Dunning, Trade Acquisituon

That is 11 possibilities for SP. It is 3 possibilities at 3 positions to be manned by prospects with room for 2 to fail at each position. If only one fails, leaving 2 at a position, then one can be moved to an OF spot with one less free agent or trade needed.

That is not an overdependence on prospects, and it is few enough free agents that we do not have to worry about overpaying for one, or maybe even two, of them.

It also completely ignores another prime prospect who could be ready by that year. That would be a college bat that we draft in 7 to 8 months in the first round.

“Members of the Rangers front office recently met with Corey Seager and Marcus Semien in California, The Dallas Morning News’ Evan Grant reports. Texas was already known to have interest in both free agent shortstops, so the in-person meetings represent the next logical step in the pursuit, especially since the Rangers have also met face-to-face with another available shortstop in Trevor Story. After five consecutive losing seasons, the Rangers are looking eager to return to contention, and are known to be willing to spend at the highest ends of the free agent market. Since Seager, Semien, and Story all rejected qualifying offers, Texas would have to give up $500K in international bonus pool money and their second-highest pick in the 2022 draft as compensation — which is another sign of the Rangers’ aggression, considering that pick would be the third choice of the second round.”

I wonder when the Correa meeting takes place?
