What's the part about EG saying we're only going to go to $200m?

Maybe a little hint we’re not going after Correa?
Probably not Seager either unless he wants/takes a 6/$200 lol which I doubt.

Probably looking more at Semien, Story and Baez.

Maybe 2 from that group.

Besides the Yankees and Tigers what teams could go after Seager and Correa with 10/$300+ ?

My question too would be why aren’t the Dodger and Astros hanging onto to those 2?
They have the money and are in contention.
Probably has other GMs thinking they would be stupid to sign either one to a 10 year deal.

We could, easier than any other team.

He only asked if that would be the wisest thing to do. He didn't say they were limited to $200 million.

In other words, Evan is not heeding my admonition of not giving the Rangers any excuses.

No excuses given and none accepted.

Ah. They should be able to get Story under $200m, I would think

I would hope given assumed Coors field effect.
I would rather have Simeon and Story than Corea

Give me Story, Correa or Seager.

Simeon is a consolation prize.

From Evan's article:

"For the Rangers, a team with so many needs, maybe the better way to attack it is this: Despite a barrel full of money to spend, would sinking a quarter of a billion dollars into one player be the most efficient expenditure? Or would going for Story or Semien, both of whom might cost a bit less in total dollars due to other circumstances (Story is coming off a down year, Semien is the oldest of the bunch), be wiser?"

Not necessarily Evan.

The Rangers have a lot of talented prospects. Those prospects need a handful of free agents to supplement them. If you only need 2 or 3 free agents you can easily afford to overpay a couple of them.

He is not quite as hard fast on things as you methinks.
I hope you realize the best offer may not land the FA. There might be personal preferences.
As such some plan B’s should be in order

I agree, the only thing I worry about is what happens 4 years down the road when these amazing prospects are getting $10-$18 million a year in arbitration? Will we be able to afford them or will we have to trade them?
Would Correa making $30 million a year hamper the team in 2027-2031?
If it takes 10 years to get Correa or Seager I don’t them.
The best players are aged below 32.
I wouldn’t mind Story or Baez if they can be had for 6 maybe 7 years. Hopefully 6 with a vesting 7th year or team option with a buyout.

I am hoping these guys pan out especially the pitching. We have had guys like Nomar and Joey, Olt even Profar do some degree that had all the tools to be difference makers.
I thought we gave up too much going after guys like Coke but Alfaro and Brinson never turned into winning pieces.

I love the guys in MILB we have probably the best well balanced for a bit but nothing is for certain.

We get one superstar and all other teams just pitch around him. We need a full stack and hope we get there

I wouldn’t be upset if IKF was our starting SS next year. He puts the ball in play and plays great defense.
I would be upset though if we didn’t make a few additions.
If we don’t get a SS I would like to get some players at least.
Seiya Suzuki, Bryant, Castellanos/Schwarber and Yan Gomez to go along with one stud pitcher.

Wouldn’t mind rolling out a roster of
1. Stud FA ($25)
2. Dunning
3. Hearn
4. Alexy
5. Otto
Then letting Cole Winn, John King and Kolby Allard come in if needed. If the team is playing surprisingly well and these 3 can’t fill the spots then add a SP at the deadline?

C-Gomez($5)/Heim
1B-Lowe
2B-Ibanez
SS-IKF
3B-Jung
LF-Bryant ($24)
CF-Adolis
RF-Suzuki ($11)
DH-Castellanos or Schwarber ($20-$17)

That would be right at $85 million. All short term deals. Somewhat. 2-5 years.. maybe 6 on Bryant.

That would be a pretty competitive team I would imagine.

Just saying if we end up with Simeon it would not be a disaster especially if we get Suzuki and a pitcher.
Tough catching market but right now we have 4 rostered so might be able to be patient one year for Huff on a look see
Will be interesting if trades come into play too
