Maybe we should have been satisfied with Mitch. Lol

mitch was a disaster too. If you factor in where mitch was in his career and what the team needed from him at the time. There was at least a few separate years where we gave him a starting role ( he didn’t have to earn it), he got hurt, then left us high and dry for most of the season.

it really sucked because mitch pulled those disappearing acts while we had great teams and even if he was fully healthy, first base was undoubtedly the weak link.

would 2010-2013 mitch fit in on the current team? I’d have to say yes and he wouldn’t be the weak link either.

There is nothing else for him to prove in the minors.

I am not sure if Santana could ever ay a decent 1B or a decent 3B, but like with Guzman"s bat, his defense at those positions should not be judged prematurely. He would need a lot more time at either position to prove if he could hack it there or not.

I was under the impression that if you traded for a player who had been left off that you could not add him before the Rule 5 draft. I thought Jamey Newberg responded to someone's question the other day and said as much.

Meant he was previously on roster vs a guys who had to be rostered to avoid rule 5. On roster then DFSd then pulled back and trade was made.

Sign Rendon as the big fish, go the extra 4th year to get Ryu, trade 2 of the 4 prospects mentioned to get Marte, and sign d’Arnaud to platoon with Trevino, and that’s an A+ offseason in my book. Could use a reliever as well (Pomeranz?), but can’t get too greedy/wishful.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a chorus of this attitude toward this guy. I know where you're coming from, heartedly agree. But what are we to do if he's on the team?

For me, I won't stand and cheer, but I've gotta hope he plays well. Just don't see where I've got any choice.

I prefer Rendon to anyone available on FA but if we miss on him I would be content with either Donaldson or Moustakas on a short deal around 2 or 3 years. I just don't hate them as much as y'all do
