I think we may get a notable name but not much more unless money is no object. Cole is off the table and Rendon is a long shot because most everyone will want him.

Cole will likely become a Yankee and Rendon just won a WS with Washington, I see him re-signing there for the most money and a chance to win another WS title. Rangers had very little chance at them anyway IMO. Pipe dreams for Rangers fans and those never pan out

I am not really interested in giving up multiple really good prospects for him. I would have loved to have brought him back in free agency though. I guess that leaves more money to spend on Rendon.

It is a process of losing one free agent at a time for the Astros. It will take awhile. At the same time we have so start developing top notch prospects and signing a free agent or two each year. We have to draft much better than them, giving we will draft mich higher than them over the next 3 years. If we do it right, then at some point we will pass them. That is how they passed us up to begin with.

That's a pretty big hit

Miley is also a free agent, that 167 innings to replace in the rotation,

along with Harris and Rondon out of the bullpen and one of their swing guys McHugh, that's 195 innings out of the bullpen and a spot starter/reliever type

And both of their catchers are free agents (Chirinos & Maldonado)

miley was very good for them then he suddenly crapped out in September. He was so terrible that they left him off the playoff roster.

I would like to see Rangers get Chirinos back. Never understood why we did not resign him. Just not that many top notch catcher FA available that I can think of.

Tough time to be a ranger fan honestly

Astros acquired JD’s “unicorn” Greinke and he’s probably going to win World Series MVP if they win tonight.

IF is always the operative word.....I didn't see any of the WS due to being across the great water.......But I sure am glad the Nats - minus Harper, ha - came through in the end!

Do we really consider Chirinos a 'top notch' catcher?.......Somebody who keeps up better than me can address this, but I don't think he's considered a very good catcher. Just adequate, with a bat that seems to come through in the clutch more than most..............I've always thought of him as a good back-up, but not so much more.
