if they are going to do any flipping they may want to invest in a pancake griddle. You don't bargain basement shop for pitching to do that.Probably could not flip him in a one year deal. Better chance with Miller IMO
Probably most of them, since Derek pitches to pitchers that bat. Pitchers had 1 hit off him last year.I wonder how many of our current starters Derek outpitches in 2019?

Glad they didn'tSo you think the Rangers should have spent 7 million on Dutch?
Yeah, that has to be taken into account before making any evaluation. That is why I added this to the discussion, "Answering my question in a few months would be a subjective process with him pitching in the NL."Probably most of them, since Derek pitches to pitchers that bat. Personally, I would have liked to have seen him come back. Realistically, signing Shelby instead of Derek is great because it gives us a better draft pick in 2020. It is hard to be unhappy about that outcome. It seems like a soft-tank is in place. So you think the Rangers should have spent 7 million on Dutch?
Just what we need.
We shouldn't expect the Rangers to do anything of importance toward putting a competitive team on the field in 2019. All that they are interested in is putting a 25-man roster on the field. Kind of like the movie "Major League"Just what we need.

Had trouble believing it.Just absolutely sickening

As far as the money question goes, I don't think that would have hurt the club at all since they are 10s of millions below what they would be at budget-wise if they were wanting to contend. There is a ton of wiggle room should they decide to spend more at some point.
Yep. Just like it.Just like Holland outperforming Cashner a couple seasons ago?

The Rangers are maintaining interest in adding some free-agent arms to their bullpen and have been in recent contact with the representatives for right-handers Adam Ottavino and Cody Allen, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic (Twitter links). However, the likelier route is that the Rangers will add multiple lower-cost relievers rather than one higher-end piece. Rosenthal adds Adam Warren to the list of potential Texas targets and notes that the Rangers are also still looking to add an infielder.
