trading may not be over so I would waitIf they do move Gallo back to third, looks like Calhoun will get a lot more playing time.

That's actually more than we got for Darvish.
Personally, I'm gonna give this trade some time to develop before I give it a grade.
too logical for some on here
To early to be sure. May be a sleeping dark horse in there somewhere. Hope so or we gave away a jewel.Calhoun, as much as I'm not a fan, was a better prospect than any of these guys, by far
typical response from you. why should I expect anything from you except criticism? so tell me what is the logical conclusion so that I can get into step with you. rush to criticize or wait and seeThe King of Illogical Reasoning is going to question other people's logic? Put the crack pipe down and get some rehab
Why put a three year constraint on it? Why does it have to be a major move? There aren't a whole lot of deals that got into both categories.oh really? Name a major move in the last 3 years you've agreed with.

I did say HOPE.Sure, but when you trade for 3 relievers and a SS that does't project to be any better than the one you had, I wouldn't get your hopes up

I did express my approval of a move they made just the other day. I approved of a deadline deal or two this past summer as well.
Going back, I was thrilled with getting Cliff Lee and Beltre. I was absolutely on board and stoked to get Darvish. I thought our pursuit of Ohtani was a wonderful decision.

Don't discount the real possibility that both A J Alexy and Calhoun turn out to be better than anyone we got in this trade. Then realize that was for a couple of months of Darvish instead of 2 years of a very cheap Profar.
Yeah, trading for RP's... what a dumb move. Everyone knows bullpens make very little difference.
okay got it. bad trade bad trade duly noted3 mediocre relievers and a SS that doesn't project to be anywhere near as good as they one we already had is just a foolish trade, to a division foe no less,
STUPID STUPID STUPID
I've defended JD in the past but maybe he's the one that needs to put down the crack pipe and get some rehab
You weren't around back then and I was on another board. I went into great detail back then why I thought so. I am not going to go through the whole thought process. We had lost a lot of good players by the 2013-2014 offseason and to me, to be where we needed to be to go to WS again we either needed to spend very big on a few really good free agents or rebuild. We did neither. We took Choo as a consolation prize and trade for an overweight Fielder who had just experienced a decrease in bat speed.I put the time constraint on it because your timeline logic is pretty questionable. You said they waited "4-5 years too long" to start rebuilding... which means they should have started in 2013-14, by your estimation. I have no idea why you think they should have started rebuilding in 2013.
The prospects we got back from a mid-season trade of a TORP should be better than anyone we got in this trade. The fact that it's a discussion says more about the Darvish trade (which in my mind, was a misstep) than it does this one.
