So now the conversation in here has turned to JJ who is pushing if not actually 70 years old. Didnt Texas just get rid of a coach who is 62? Are they not in the shopping for a long term answer to this problem? Yes JJ would get the recruits and he might even do well on the field if the game hasnt passed him by in terms of x's and o's, but lets be real here and seek a real, long term replacement for Mack and not a name.
Dont be surprised if the coaching search takes a strange turn due to the manner in which this has all been handled. At this point they need to be looking for a good fit, not a name. They need to actually find a coach, not a headline.
Oh ok, just read the last few comments, didnt do a full scan of the whole thread since i left earlier today. Just wanted to make sure we hadnt totally lost our minds here.
Years into the future, old coaches will talk of these times as the "Golden Age", when head coaches everywhere added millions and years to their contracts. They will be sitting around, patting a 90 year old Mack on the back, thanking him for the "Golden Age" of big-time, life-changing raises they were able to secure.
