Saban's contract is meanless he can leave without a buyout any time he wants...but he ain't going anywhere.

Most of this is meaningless. Lot of these announcements are extension agreements, not signatures. Texas is going to wait, because I am sure many of the coaches they are looking at are still playing games. I just hope that the search is about the coach and not about the popularity of his name.

I could live with that. I really hope the next coach has a core competency. Someone that has had success as a coordinator and as a game planner. That is one reason why I have Franklin lower than most.

I like to fantasize about Mike Leach at UT watching him tell rich alums, Bob Stoops, lazy players, Horns fans with a sense of entitlement, etc. to all get fucked then averaging 92 points per game and winning a couple of national championships before getting fired at halftime of the RRSO after he threatened the University President for having the temerity to call him out for dropping several F-bombs on national TV while he was being interviewed on his way to the locker room. He'd win 95% of his games and never survive but it would be a hoot while it lasted.

Hopefully, whoever Patterson & etc. choose, he will be excellent at defense or offense and not order those who know the other half better than him to go against their gut.


Franklin would be a complete surprise and I don't think he would do better than Mack.


I would not be surprised if Texas goes short term and picks a guy who is almost 60.

I remember passing Jimmy and Jerrah at St Edwards Univ here in Austin back in the day, when camp was held there. They were walking down a long sidewalk toward me, and I was walking up it toward them. Jerrah was yacking non-stop, and all I saw Jimmy do, every 5-10 seconds or so, was shake his head no. "no. no. no. no." Was kinda funny.
