Cincinnati used to burn me a lot back in the day. When they were the best Pro team in town.

Do you mean Nevada Las Vegas? Or Reno?

Gonzaga has made it out of the first round 10 consecutive years(you'd be amazed at how short that list is), has made 4 consecutive S16's, an E8 and title game appearance in the last 4 years.

We might hold a team to 30 points in a game, but only score 29.. Soooo, yeah. I'd have some trust issues.

I agree with a few of these, but it's based on a short window. Obviously, Nova was at the top of this list just 3 years ago.

The way I look at it is, unless you have a dominant team (2015 UK, 1999 Duke), if you get to the Final 4, then the monkey is off your back. It takes too much luck and hot shooting to win it all. So, Kansas and Gonzaga get a pass.

Xavier intertwined years of getting knocked out early with overperforming their seed and before they were in the BE, they always did well, so pass.

Arizona has had a few years of getting oh so close.

UVA needs to make the Final 4 this year.

Agreed. Villanova was definitely at the top of this list until they finally got over the hump with 2 titles in the last 3 years. Gonzaga was a giant killer for awhile and then they became a giant and couldn't get to the Final Four and finally did a couple of years ago.

Yeah Gonzaga don’t apply here

That's not getting over the hump. That's flying over the ocean, lol.

Unless you're a really bad coach, a lot of it is just a numbers game. Eventually, if you spin the wheel enough times, red will come up instead of black.

UVA just needs a few more bites at the apple.

That makes sense because of the sheer volume of times they've been a 1/2/3 seed. It is quite shocking they've only made the FF 4 times this century, but they've cashed in with 2 titles. Between 2005 and 2009 and 2011 and 2014, they had some really bad tournament results.

this brings up a thought that i haven't had in a bit:

the supporting cast behind Redick and Williams was meh in 2005 (only thanks to Daniel Ewing. aside from that, woof) and atrocious in 2006.

really is bizarre to look back on it. if that supporting cast was merely average by Duke standards, they could have won it all in back to back years

After the Luol Deng class in 2003(not that it was much of a class, but he was a stud) K had a ton of average classes in 2004, 2005 and 2006. 2004 could have been good but Livingston turned pro. 2005 was McRoberts and Paulus(lol) who were both highly rated, but were role players. 2006 was better with Henderson and Lance Thomas, and I guess Scheyer. I still can't believe a team with Kyle Singler, Jon Scheyer, Nolan Smith, Brian Zoubek, Ryan Kelly and 2 Plumlees won a title, and in that same year a team with John Wall, Demarcus Cousins, Eric Bledsoe and Patrick Patterson did not.

That year(2010) Scheyer was PG and he wasn't a true PG either. (he's close to 6'7")

He could handle the ball without turning it over which was exactly what they needed. But they played as a team and watched those who should have won it all get beaten one by one. The best part about that season other than winning a championship was emasculating UNC by 32.

Swap out Nevada for Cincy.

Get rid of FSU. They're a football school..and they just made the E8 as a #9 seed.

Oh yeah no doubt they played as a team, which I can appreciate. And I'm not knocking them when I say this, but, outside of UConn in 2014, it's probably the least talented team to win the title in my lifetime.
