USA got a bad beat with how Slovenia vs Spain played out.

USA is now against FIBA #2 Spain up first, and should they - and they should - win, they're up against the winner between Argentina and Australia, #s 3 and 4.

After them, it's likely either France - who've beaten them already (albeit early in team USA's team chemistry) or Slovenia - who have been the most consistent team thus far in the Olympics.

Don't get me wrong, the USA should still be considered the favorites to win gold. But it's actually a little exciting that the USA has to put in some work to win the gold medal we're so accustomed to them winning. We're not the underdog, but the seeding makes the US as close to one as I've ever seen them be.

Yep, US came out stone cold from the perimeter in the 1st, especially Dame. US eventually locked down defensively and started hitting shots and blew them out.

I'll probably be up too. My sleep schedule is seriously messed up and would normally be up then, but with not getting much sleep last night, all bets are off. Odds are I pass out in the chair right after dinner and get at least several hours sleep during the early evening, so I might not miss it.

I hope so. I think they'll beat Germany to get into the medal rounds. I think they can beat France to get to the final. I think it's possible they beat the US if the US plays like shit and Slovenia plays lights out. And of the 3 other non-US teams on the US's side of the bracket, they've already beat Spain and Argentina. Australia's their only unknown for the bronze match.

A gold is probably too high a goal for Slovenia to expect, but damn. The fact that they are primed and to medal right now is pretty fucking epic for that tiny of a nation.
