Missed shots were the only reason it seemed close for a while.
This game was more of a mismatch than the score seems.....the USA was a lot better than Spain.

Team USA just missed wide open (comically wide open) shots in the first half.
That was never going to keep going over 4 quarters. Those guys are way too good to have 4 feet of open space on every shot and miss.

Spain got torched by the same wide open shots in the 2nd half.

Spain also got a lot of gift free throws on marginal contact, while the US couldn't buy a call for much of the game. FIBA is such a weird version of basketball, really rewards flopping. I do like the "unsportsmanlike" calls on intentional fouls that interrupt the flow of the game. Are those new? I seem to remember FIBA basketball involving a lot of given fouls to stop any kind of fast break in the past...

Tatum seriously went 1 on 1 and didn't pass the ball on the entire possession. How selfish can you be? And to cap it off it ended with a terrible outcome

Looks like a solid win. Reminds me of NCAA tourney games, the 15 seed hangs with the 2 seed for 2 1/2 quarters then runs out of gas and the talent differential takes over. Call it 14 and 3 if you wish.

This is literally a replay of the Spain game.

The USA spends nearly 2 quarters missing every outside shot while watching the other team hit shots.

Then they realize the international rules, allow them to attack the basket better because of 5 fouls making it harder to defend athletes.

And they suddenly go on an insane run....once they remember they have better athletes and attack the paint

And that allows them to get much better outside shots
