I would highly suggest not ever posting on that part of SportsHoopla...It's the Oakland Coliseum of internet forums i.e. covered in shit.

Oh, I've been there. And I agree. But I came here explicitly to get away from the story... and here it is.

I think that's to be expected when an event like that happens in the same metropolitan area as the team the forum is centered around is located. Plus maybe this is one of few outlets for people to process such an event. I won't begrudge anyone who feels compelled to discuss it here as long as they stick to facts and don't chase insane rabbit trails.

But if you want to escape watch this awful video of Corey Patterson hitting a grand slam off Neftali Feliz.

Patterson's grand slam

Can I formally request we get back to baseball?

I'm listing sir....here goes:

4. Texas Rangers: The Rangers have had more conversations about starting pitchers than relievers, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have interest in Miller. Texas has a strong farm system full of highly regarded position players, with the real question being would it give up one of its best prospects for Miller?

The Yankees would have to start the conversation asking for center fielder Lewis Brinson, which would get a quick "no." Their next name to ask for could be Joey Gallo; like Schwarber of the Cubs, Gallo would fit nicely in Yankee Stadium with the potential to be a 40-home run bat. The Yankees would prefer Schwarber over Gallo because Schwarber’s hit tool is better than Gallo’s, and Gallo’s high strikeout rate is not ideal. However, it’s unlikely the Rangers would give up Gallo without getting a top-of-the-rotation starter back.

The next name added into the mix could be infielder Jurickson Profar, but withStarlin Castro at second base and Didi Gregorius at shortstop, he’s really not a great fit. After Profar, the Yankees would probably pursue right-handed pitcher Dillon Tate (the Rangers’ first-round pick from the 2015 draft) or Luis Ortiz, their first-round pick from 2014. The Rangers wouldn’t let either stand in the way of landing Miller, with the Yankees probably asking for both.

  • The Rangers have exchanged numbers with Rougned Odor’s camp in extension talks, but the two sides aren’t believed to be close to a deal yet. Odor won’t be arbitration eligible until after the 2017 campaign, so he’s a ways off from his first significant salary. We’ve previously seen several second basemen in his service bracket — between two and three years of service once the season is up — sign extensions, so there are a fair number of comparables from which to draw. Brian Dozier signed away his arbitration year for a total of $20MM, while Matt Carpenter and Jason Kipnis each signed away their arb years and a pair of free-agent seasons for about $52MM in total, as can be seen in MLBTR’s Extension Tracker.

Not many comments on Tolleson's implosion last night? I didnt see Chi Chi pitching until the fourth inning, so I don't know how bad he was, aside from the 4 runs I saw he gave up earlier. To me Tolleson was worse it seemed. I know Tolleson has a track record of being better and Gonzalez hasn't ever been as good as expected, but Shawn is still not right to me, though he had a string of no run innings.

I bet we get this done and everyone is happy in the process as well.

Without being familiar with the examples that were posted, what would be a solid range for Rougie's extension?

I'm guessing 5 years around $50+ mil. But that could be on the low side.

Cole is on the hill, still playing the twinkies, at home. Should be a good recipe for a win! It would be badly needed.

If the conversation for Miller starts with any of those guys, then I politely hang up
