The issue is that he didn't know where the wall was and came in too hot and then realized too late that the wall was there

End result, he wasn't catching the ball either way, not without getting hurt like he did or worse

A veteran wouldn't have caught that and also not got hurt, a young guy almost or does make the catch and gets carted off
