Nah. The more gimmicks, the more produced and forced it feels. All they need is interesting people, basic game play, and some basic idols. That's it. Every season where they've started packing on the gimmicks the last 4 or 5 seasons, the show has gotten progressively worse. The only reason s40 worked was because it was all returning players (Winners).

Im with you. I’m good with a few advantages and twists. Throw in some idols to stir things up. The occasional extra vote or steal a vote is great.

But this new beware idol is mental. It was so insanely long that Xander had to read it from two different confessional spots haha. The prisoners dilemma is stupid if it’s every ep. we gonna have 9 people with extra votes?

The shot in the dark should have someone shot on the spot.

I saw Voce exit interview he said with 5 people and all these weird rules it caused so much confusion for the cast. Like can Xander use an extra vote with no real vote. As a viewer I get a damn nosebleed. Imagine a player on 7 days of hunger having to decipher a 5 paragraph essay of an advantage. Unreal.

Good news. The beware idol can only be a 1 time thing as it’s current set up. Otherwise next season the moment someone randomly starts talking about fucking butterflies everyone will be like “yup, idol”.

Having said all that. Overall 2 good eps. Cast isn’t diverse just for diversity. Lot of solid players and/or personalities.

It’s Jeff that sucks. That’s it.

I am not sure I agree with this statement. On BB, Julie still always says “and the houseguests have NO IDEA”, but when they reveal the twist, the house Guests typically all look at each other and say “we all talked about this”.

I don’t know if I read it here or elsewhere, but apparently CBS execs have mandated that all their unscripted shows need to have more than 50% POC with a strong LBGTYUDJSHDNF element.

Yup survivor is required to. Which initially worried me, not because I think minority cast members are all bland/terrible. But, because I assume the amount of applicants are going to heavily lean Caucasian.

So I was a bit nervous that picking from a smaller pool of Asian just to fit a quota rather than taking best available, might fail.

But this season it definitely hasn’t IMO. The cast is really solid. Not sure there’s a all time player/character but so far zero duds.

I don’t know that survivor ever had an issue, though. They have plenty of POC winners and plenty of POC all-stars. Could POC representation be better? Maybe. But I wouldn’t be surprised if the representation wasn’t already pretty close to the general population.

The LBGTUSPLYJF representation is total BS, though. To match societal percentages, having 1 every other season or so would match the population. Having 1/4 or 1/3 of the cast falling into that demo is WAY over-correcting.

BB, admittedly, has been pretty bad about proper representation. And the cast members they have chosen in the past (for the most part) have been absolute jokes.

What a crock of shit. Just blatantly leaving the advantages out in the open. Everything is so forced. They might as well have producers show up on camera and say "Hey, this person has been talking about".

With Brad gone and 1/3 of sayings idol gone, does that mean that Xander has lost his vote permanently or does that get recycled at Brad's camp?

As for the idols being placed, yes, it does seem forced, but as we saw from the edit, one person overlooked an obvious Beware advantage that somebody else then found.

I think they're trying to create memorable tribal councils where multiple advantages get played.

It's interesting that JD hid his advantage, got caught, confessed, then appeared to be on the verge of being ousted.
Conversely, Brad shares his advantage knowledge to gain trust, then gets voted out.

I'm guessing that the mafia pastor goes far, as this is a very favorable edit for her and she appears to be quite comfortably controlling everything on that tribe.

this is the problem with going loyalty over team strength... your team keeps on losing and you lose more people that once there is a merge any merge, you will never have the numbers... and player on teams always keep loyal to their teams after the merge because it is such an easy vote...

the blue team that is still 6 strong is going to take the others out one by one... as long as they are not dumb enough to successfully tank a competition...

it sounds right, but once they merge, the ex-NFL player has to be the first target.
I don't think they can let a challenge beast linger.
Possibly Xander too.
There will be enough weaker players that getting rid of the strongest will be a better option than any tribe loyalties.

the blue team is tight other than the girl they almost ruined their game to get rid of... they basically still out number everyone...

6 Blue
4 Yellow
3 Orange

so lets just say the merge happened this week(which it wont) it would be Blue 6 vs other 7... and with those holes in the 7 i doubt they would successfully be able to take out any of the 6...

and if the merge happens any time after this week the 6 blue will have the numbers outright...

and with an odd number of players their wont be a merge into 2 teams yet... if that happens then it will happen next week when there is 12 and chances are they wont be outnumbered...

so i think the ex-NFL player is safe for a while...

Agreed if they merge into two tribes.

But, if it becomes an individual free for all, I think the two women from the blue tribe would join the other 7 in voting off the strongest player.

So could JD not use extra vote or something? They got so many its hard to keep track of what's activated and what isn't. The whole time I kept wondering why Genie and him just didn't team up with the extra vote to take out one of the other two players. Considering JD gave the advantage away AGAIN, I settled on the fact that they're just stupid

He could.

He said in his exit interview he pitched the idea to Genie. They go 3 on Richard and he goes home. He said Genie didn’t give good vibes on that plan at all

Then she was very very dumb. That plan she knows for sure she's staying. The way she went, she's still sweating putting trust into the other two players that already burned her once
