Practice squad players show loyalty to 49ers | CSN Bay Area

But four other players on the 49ers' practice squad passed up opportunities throughout the season for a 300-percent pay raise. Outside linebacker Cam Johnson, defensive tackle Tony Jerod-Eddie, offensive lineman Al Netter and wide receiver Ricardo Lockette each turned down offers to remain on the 49ers' practice squad, each player confirmed.

I heard Harbaugh mention this this morning after he had been asked a question about something else. It was pretty interesting.

Jerod-Eddie was offered a promotion by the Dallas Cowboys, his favorite team growing up. He turned it down.

Johnson, Netter and Lockette each said they had multiple teams offer contracts. None would identify the teams that were interested.

Wow how awesome! Shows awesome harbaugh and this team is.

I wonder if the Niners might get a little SB XIX redux in that game. That was 85 against Miami who was supposed to kill us but Walsh found another way. They took advantage of slow LB and got 11 passes to the RB and won going away. I hear that R Lewis has lost a step and the other ILB has a bum ankle. Are they vunerable? I don't see Gore doing it but VD, Delanie, and maybe LMJ.

we'll have to slow his running first, then worry about his receptions. as he says, he'll get some receptions and thats fine. so to me, just stay in good coverage technique and make good tackles. as long as he doesn't break long receptions.

but it goes both ways, our RB's will likely get a few receptions against their LB's? can their MLB's stick with our RB's?

Rice is correct; catching passes out of the backfield is advantage Rice in certain defense packages. The difference between covering Rice vs. covering our backs is Torrey Smith.

Torrey Smith is obviously a dangerous receiver, but we read an article recently saying he's not as good unless he's running deep? don't think that writer was far off? so he is dangerous but IF his O-line can sustain longer blocks?

think those who'll keep the chains moving, will hurt more? so Pitta and Boldin will 'irritate' us more?

Well the thing that Smith does is force our FS to stay deep thus opening up the underneath for Joe. Pitta is solid and Boldin will catch anything thrown remotely close to New Orleans.

Our passing offense is much easier to defend than their passing offense which is why we need our 8th DB (our pass rush) to be present on Sunday, or unless we get lucky or get mistakes it can/will be a long day for us.
