I'm hoping for a Rangers #1 overall pick and a Baltimore-Seattle ALCS. To me, that would be about as successful of a season as a non-playoff injury disaster season could be.

Apparently Dbacks and Rockies play each other this weekend..so we will gain and lose....unless we just lose every game and then it won't matter...

I know I may catch some grief for saying this but I would not mind going after Brandon McCarthy and he may be reasonable. He has been pitching very well.

Could be a low cost number 4 type to possibly pair with Colby at the 5

Of course we should pursue someone like Shields hopefully with a 4 year deal... Hopefully teams are learning that long term deals for 30+ players is a bad idea

I'd like to have both. I'd be ok with them overpaying for Shields per year, but keeping it to 4 or 5 years. Maybe 4/72?

I meant both as well, Lewis/McCarthy could be solid stop gaps for Perez, and if they pan out you can bring back Perez slowly

Shields will fetch 20+ per year. I'd do 4/80-90

I don't know that ownership is going to be willing to dish out big money again like last off-season. I think our best bet is to trade for 1 and sign another like McCarthy. Kenta Maeda is another.

Exactly what I had in mind. I was bringing McCarthy up as a low cost bottom of the rotation pitcher and add someone of Shield's caliber. McCarthy is on the verge of going 7-4 with an ERA of 2.54 pitching for the Yankees. Not bad for pitching in a Cracker Jacks ballpark. We need to make some prudent moves and that could be one.

That delivery with that slider w/ a 93 MPH fastball will get ML hitters out, but his size is definitely a concern.
