Speaking of dumb fucks you better look in the mirror. This thread is about a preferred guitar player and not about trolling other members. I personally don't care what you think about me and my views. I don't follow you around the forum so if you can't contribute without tossing insults then maybe you shouldn't post on this thread.

Jimi easily.
Agreed. Vaughn was very good but Jimi was the man. One of the very few that when you heard that guitar you knew exactly who it was. He was the only one who could make a Stratocaster sound like that.

Fair as your opinion, but a big swing and a miss there sir.

I would take the other Jimmy (Page) as my top guitar player, but Hendrix was stellar imo.

Jimmy Page never really was all that impressive to me, honestly.

That might actually be Paul McCartney. So bad he had to play the Superbowl.

I am partial to Jimi Hendrix.
You know, I thought McCartney was done but I saw him in Phoenix last month and I have to say he was outstanding. Really let the crowd participate too, told a lot of Beatles stories and even had a cool story about Hendrix. For an old man, he rocked, played drums, piano, bass, ukelele and guitar. I thoroughly enjoyed it and didn't think I would, even though I am one of the world's biggest Beatles fans

Hendrix was more innovative. They both have great style and SRV was way better technically but I have to give it to the innovator. Saw SRV when he was clean on his last tour and him and his band were perfect.
Les Paul was the innovator in my opinion.

If you talking just playing the guitar, SRV was the better technician. That's it. If you place a high value on that, then maybe. Hendrix was the innovator, the better songwriter and by a lot. He changed the electric guitar playing game as someone else mentioned. He simply created better music. He was the giant SRV stood on the shoulders of.. and he didn't really didn't build on it. He just took the bluesier part of what Hendrix did and ran with it. Vaughn could play whatever Jimi could play, but so what. All of this is completely subjective, of course.
Hendrix also performed the greatest cover song ever. One of the very few who took the original and made it better. Hendrix took the original and blew it off the map.

Then you can't exclude Eric Clapton

Arguably nobody altered the course of music/electric guitar moreso than Hendrix....it was night and day when he came around. You can say that SRV brought the blues back in the 1980's to the masses, but his influence is just not on the same planet.

Vaughn is a giant....one of the very greatest. Hendrix is just a world to his own.
