I laughed

This is some of LSUfreeks best work. Remember this one from 2011 when the BCS was a complete mess?

The question being asked was if playing the big5 conference was a big deal, and all he did was point out that conferences have teams at the bottom that are worse than teams you can find that aren't in a power 5 conference. So the label of "power 5" doesn't mean a ton in his opinion.

He is responding to Saban wanting only power 5 conferences to play each other.

While he mentions the Big10 as part of an example, it was besides the point of what he was saying, and the only reason it's a big deal is because some people...Brasky....are taking it personal as if he was claiming only in the big10. And of course, some people just want to troll and make it seem that way.

Exactly. It was not a specific jab, he was saying that teams should be free to play good teams from lesser conferences.

Answer his question is East Carolina better then the bottom of the B1G?

Last I heard the program took a turn for the worst after skip left for usf, so I'd guess not.

.. And then he mentioned one conference in particular whom he plays regularly *out of conference.

Am I supposed to be five years old for you?

I'm being told I'm insecure about the Big Ten, but SEC fans and especially USC fans are jumping off of the conference homer ship like rats on a sinking boat in this thread.

In all seriousness, we all know one thing: The playoff is going to eliminate SEC bias and that scares a lot of you.

I would say that realistically ECU could beat the following power 5 teams:

ACC: Boston College, Syracuse, NC State, Wake Forest, UNC, Virginia, Pitt
B1G: IU, Rutgers, Maryland, Purdue, Minnesota, Illinois, Northwestern
Big 12: TCU, Kansas, Iowa State, West Virginia
SEC: Kentucky, Arkansas
Pac 12: California, Colorado

They are a solid non power 5 team.

So what they did in 2010 has a barring on how good they will be in 2014? This will probably be their best team this year since the days of Skip Holtz. I stick by my statement. They had a couple down years in what the past 8 seasons or so?

2009 9-5 lost to WVU, NC, VT & Ark
2008 9-5 lost to NC State, Virginia & Kentucky. beat VT & WVU
2007 8-5 lost to VT, WVU & NC State. Beat NC.
2006 7-6 lost to Navy, WVU & NC State. Beat Virginia & NC State

Since 2006 they are 4-9 against ranked teams and have only been ranked in the Top 25 for 3 weeks. :lame:

Lol. What's your deal? I said they were solid, not great. Are there better non power 5 programs? Of course. Are there non power 5 programs that are worse? Yes, and that number would be a lot. They generally play tough OOC games. 2 sometimes 3 games against power 5 competition. And getting back to my original point about the power 5 teams they could beat this year, is the fact they have 12 starters coming back including their QB. IMO they'll be better than about 20-25 power 5 teams.

The SEC has been the conference pushing for the playoffs while conferences like the Big10 have been the conference that has killed the idea over and over.

If not for getting 2 teams in the BCSNCG, we probably still wouldn't have a playoff.

ECU went 10-3 last year, although not a very tough schedule.

Context, context, context! From 2006 through 2013 in NON-BOWL games vs ranked opponents ECU is
4-12--0.250 and ranks as 31 best in D1A.

That won/loss record ranks ECU ahead of teams such as: Michigan, Texas Tech, Arkansas, Penn St., Arizona St., Louisville, Michigan St., South Fla., North Carolina, Northwestern, Arizona, Nebraska, BYU, California, Miami (FL), Wake Forest, Maryland, Tennessee, Baylor, Rutgers, Connecticut, Mississippi, Illinois, Oregon St., Colorado, Virginia, Kentucky, Syracuse, Washington, Iowa St., Washington St., Vanderbilt, Mississippi St., Kansas, Purdue, Duke, Indiana, and Minnesota.

The 4 wins vs ranked opponents puts ECU ahead of: Louisville, BYU, Maryland, Illinois, Oregon St., Colorado, Kentucky, Washington, Rutgers, Connecticut, Virginia, Syracuse, Iowa St., Washington St., Vanderbilt, Mississippi St., Kansas, Purdue, Duke, Indiana, Minnesota.

Note: Duke, Indiana, and Minnesota have ZERO wins vs ranked teams.
