You know, there were a couple of reporters advocating that the NBA create a death penalty for the clippers. Have Doc and all the players contracts come off the books and make them free agents. I don't see that happening, but boy that would be chaotic

It would make the upcoming FA class ALOT more interesting.

Yea the first guy I would go after would be Deandre Jordan.

Really? Jordan is a solid center but first? I'd definitely go after Griffin first. Not that it matters because I don't see how voiding all the contracts is any more legal than just straight up taking the team away from Sterling. Fun to think about though while we pass the time between now and draft night (and hopefully picking #1)

Man I'd go after CP3 and Doc, make good use of the draft pick, and then make a run at Melo

I don't see any contracts being voided and I doubt the NBA can force Sterling to sell the team because they don't like what he said. Were that case, Mark Cuban would have been forced out of Dallas years ago.

I'm not advocating for Sterling because he's simply a prick. No doubt about that.

Sterling will be forced to sell because he's losing a ton of revenue, and will continue to do so, and when player contracts expire, they won't re-sign. Also, FA won't sign with the Clippers.

Sterling dug his own grave. All that's left to be done is to shovel the dirt over him.

On Monday (4/28), 15 Clippers advertisers said they have terminated or suspended their sponsorship, although most expressed their continued support for the team's players, coaches and fans.

Announcing their departure were CarMax, State Farm, Kia, Virgin America, Red Bull, Mercedes-Benz, LoanMart, Southern California Ford Dealers, Yokohama Tire, Burger King, Sprint, Samsung, the Commerce Hotel & Casino, the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians and the company that makes Corona beer.

The flight of carmaker KIA and insurance giant State Farm were particularly noteworthy because the companies employ as spokesmen two of the team's stars — Blake Griffin and Chris Paul. Both companies said their ad campaigns would continue to feature the two Clippers.

I doubt Sterling will sell and even if the NBA owners could force him out (which it appears they actually could) they are unlikely to because they know that whatever they do to Sterling can be done to them.

I think that ultimately there will be an announcement that Sterling is going to "retire" and leave the team to his kids to run. It effectively gets him out of the league without punishing the rest of his family for his stupidity.

Well if they can get rid of the likes of Marge Schott for the same thing and folks like Leonard Tose for a gambling habit, the chances of the Donald being removed are fairly good. I am sure they'll find a way to do it in a socially acceptable fashion but I don't see him being the owner come opening day next year.

The problem for the NBA (and the reason that I think they won't try to force him to sell) is that MLB had already taken several corrective actions against Schott (including a lengthy suspension). No such action has been taken against Sterling.

If they are going to try to push him out it would likely only be done after they had tried other measures first. I think he'll ultimately have to pay a huge fine and be suspended for a year or he will agree to step away from the franchise and leave it to his kids to run.

They didn't take any corrective action against Eddie DeBartalo or Leonard Tose back in the day. They gave them an ultimatum and they were gone once the investigations were complete. An announcement by the NBA is on Monday.

Marge got some second chances but the majority of them didn't. The NBA will use the pressures of loss of revenue and now that Doc Rivers is intimating he is not returning along with FA not re-signing to rid themselves of this dope. He'll be gone by next year.

It doesn't matter if they have legal grounds to remove him. If he doesn't sell they 'll have him killed. The rich & powerful have killed for a lot less money than what Don Sterling has been & will be costing the league over the years. Also it's a given that if there were to ever be a plot to kill Don Sterling that his wife would fully cooperate. One way or another Don Sterling isn't likely to continue being the owner of the Clippers.

Banned for life. Even though Silver says that they will try to force him to sell, I'll be surprised if it goes that far. The lifetime ban keeps him away from the NBA, which is what they really wanted, and his kid's can keep the franchise.

Or, we may see him transfer ownership to his kids.

Weren't DeBartolo and Tose convicted of crimes though? It's not against the law to be an idiot racist.

Probably if he keeps the team. If he no longer owns it, then some may still want to play for them (if the money is right).

Debartalo was convicted of a crime but Tose wasn't after both were investigated. Tose's gambling debts started to infringe on keeping the Eagles a financially healthy organization and they got rid of him because he was running it into the ground. Speculation was Tose owed money to the mob but that was never proven.

Banishment is going to force a sale because his kids will eff this up so bad, financial considerations similar to what happened to New Orleans will force the league to take over control and then a sale will shortly follow because 2/3 of the owners will force it once Sterling's kids screw the pooch if it even gets that far.

Can't imagine Sterling will go away quietly.
