Bingo. I couldn't care less about pot. Frankly, I wish it was legal mostly so the potheads would shut up about it. But as long as it is illegal, I agree that it's wise for the NFL to test for it.

NFL and Wise in the same sentence makes absolutely no sense. I looked up oxymoron..... It's close and worth an instant replay....

Wonder if there are salary cap implications if they would cut him. I dunno, the guy's a great talent, but once you hit Josh Gordon territory, really gotta wonder about his future...

Bring Josh and Martavis over to my All NFL Herb Team.

Then get our Super Bowl Rings ready.

Martavis Bryant's indefinite suspension is the result of failing six drug tests.:suds:

In other words, the NFL makes you work really hard to earn a year-long ban. Two of Bryant's "fails" were no-shows, which is treated as a straight fail for obvious reasons. Bryant has checked into rehab, while his agent says he's battling depression. In a Monday statement, Steelers GM Kevin Colbert hinted the team plans to hold onto Bryant through his suspension.
6 tests :eek::L:L:L:L:L:L:eek:
Great talent but obviously not very smart.

Hope he gets help for his depression. I've seen what that can do to someone in my family, and he's a shell of what he once was due to his medication.

I'm already sick of talking about MB, but this depression thing sounds more like a crutch....seriously...depression makes some sense now because his NFL checks are stopping and he'll be away from his teammates, etc...but before that...what could he be that depressed about?

He just wanted to burn imo.

My brother-in-law (technically former) talked about depression several years ago after deciding his wife was not worthy of him and walked out. I'm like dude...the woman supported all of your dumb biz ideas after you got let go from a job you never should've had (a high paying tech sales position that he had know expertise in).

My daughter (physiology major) said depression could've set in after he was not able to land a comparable bread winner type job...ok, but his wife was busting her butt paying the bills...and he dumps her?

Not making light of your fam situation, but MB should have sought out help long before now instead of self medicating.

He could be a smoker that didn't realize the impact of his depression until he tried to quit the smoke, which led to him not being able to quit. Medical marijuana is a real, recognized thing and should be treated as such nationwide.

That could very well be...Never tried any other recreational drug, but I've been stoned on pot many times, especially in my 20s and drunk many more times than that...I can see how a person can get hooked on the bottle, prescription pills, etc....and I do understand pot has some medical benefits, but helping you cope with depression? Maybe, but not my area of expertise so I can't wrap my head around that one.

The depression state in general is what I'm struggling with mostly...if you put in your 40 and can't still can't pay your bills, or you can't afford the Xmas gift your child wants so badly, your GF dumped you after 5 yrs...stuff like that...I get it...on some level most of us have felt depressed.

The brother in law I mentioned actually sought counseling for his depression and was on meds (don't think it was weed) for a while...supposedly going from a 200k+ a yr job and country club life style to 40k a yr job after 2 failed businesses brought it on. FWIW...we still keep in contact and he's a new guy...far more humble, seems to be in a much better place.

I'm all for the kid...I hope the Steelers don't abandon him and he makes a recovery, but it just sounds like an excuse to make it sound better.

This is what the "it's not a big deal crew" seem to ignore over and over. If my multi-million dollar contract stated I couldn't wear a green shirt, I wouldn't. It is really pretty simple...:noidea:

Uh, nobody ignored that. We all know why he was suspended. The debate is about how dumb the rule is.

I agree with the people saying "rules are rules". It doesn't matter that it's a stupid rule. As long as it's still a rule then the players need to abide by it or face lose millions due to suspension. People arguing that its "just weed" are missing the point completely. If the league made a rule that no player shall own a poodle it would be just as stupid as the weed rule, but you can bet your ass if I was a player I wouldn't be seen within a mile of poodle. Why risk millions of dollars for weed when an NFL career is only about 5 years long even if they are lucky? Smoke that shit till it comes out of your ears when you retire and nobody will care. Just don't do it until then. No problem.

Once again, nobody missed the point. Everybody know the rule says you can't smoke. The debate is about how srupid the rule is.

Is it? I would say that Martavis Bryant got suspended for being a brain-dead idiot who can't follow simple rules in order to make millions of dollars playing a fucking sport. And I would say there isn't much of a debate there. What some people are saying is the rule doesn't matter given the circumstances. Bryant had one responsibility coming into the NFL, and that was to stay out of trouble. If he can't do that he doesn't deserve to play in the NFL. It's such a simple thing, and he can't even do that.

Regardless of whether or not weed is completely legal in every state in the U.S. or not, the NFL has every right to ban it. So does every business in America. If you want to stay employed you have to follow the rules laid out by your employer or you get fined/fired. It doesn't matter how "stupid" the rule is. If you can't follow a simple rule like "don't smoke weed" then you shouldn't be in the NFL. It actually isn't about how stupid the rule is, it's about how stupid Martavis Bryant is. This has nothing to do with your pro-weed agenda. This has everything to do with following some very simple and well-known rules in order to make millions of dollars. He deserves this suspension and hopefully will come out of it with a brain and some personal responsibility.

Smh, dude, nobody disagree that he is stupid. Im going to say it again, and hopefully it register through your head.

We all know that it's against the rules to smoke weed. We all know, if you fail a test, you will be punished. We all know, that Bryant failed the test. We all know why he is suspended. We all know, he is a dumbass ass for risking millions over some weed. We know all of this.

What people are arguing, is that this is a stupid rule, and the nfl should stop testing for weed. But once again, even if it's a stupid rule, players should follow it.

I don't know if I can make it more clear than that.

????? No the debate is about these idiots ignoring a rule, that ends up costing them millions if they break it.

Stay on topic. You said people on here, are ignoring that a rule is a rule and players should follow it. I said, nobody on here ignored that. They are just upset because the nfl treat weed as a bad thing.

Stay on topic?????? I am on topic. The thread is about player unwillingness to lay off weed even knowing it will cost them millions if they smoke it.

Weed, weed, weed, skunk rules. Having said that, this guy should have focused on the money, not the herb. How many potheads have a million-dollar payday at the doorstep. Weed is not that great in that context.

As the great Peter Tosh once said, "A man cannot smoke money".
