Not all people want the rule gone, and if you admit he broke the rule why jump all over a guy who simply said the players are ignoring the rule? In anti illegal drugs, and believe weed is a gateway drug. I've had too many friends and family start with weed and move on to much more dangerous stuff. When my brother and I were young he smoked, and as I didn't like him doing it I wasn't too worried until he moved on to coke and heroin. He spent nearly 30 years behind bars for the mistakes he made while high. He's clean now, and is leading an anti drug program. I will never support weed, legal or not.

A good friend of mine is a drug counselor for the VA...per her, all drugs are a gateway to something else for a person looking for more. Even something as simple as smoking cigs...my golf buddy said he took his 1st puff off a cig in the navy at 18 and left the navy 2 yrs later smoking a packs a day and added drinking...it took him over 30 yrs to quit...I pointed to cigs and drinking because they are legal and often go hand in hand.

Pot is kinda the same way imo...the difference is because it's illegal in most places, you're more willing to try something else illegal...and that's when the train can go off the tracks.

I'm not a teetotaler, just not the lush I was in my younger days. Child came along changed my life.

I didn't do any bad stuff until I was in my 20s, my parents had stop smoking when I was real young so I never had the urge to smoke cigs even though you see a few kids doing it in HS...I did smoke pot, and drank...truthfully the worst of it was drinking. When I moved away from the pot source I stopped because I never wanted to know any dealers or be around them...In terms of it being more dangerous or whatever, I don't view pot a whole lot different than cigs, cigars, etc.

There have been times in my life as an adult when I felt I was drinking too much and shut it down, stopped hanging out with that group...Going through a case of beer on a friday night and being hung over on Sat. was okay at 23...not at 35 or 40...

Some people have addictive personalities and will indulge or over indulge...just because...I know a couple of people like that.

I believe most of us did stuff we shouldn't as kids, I smoked some weed as a teen, honestly less than 20 joints in all, I never felt like it did anything for me and I was talking to a AF recruiter so I stopped.
Is it worse than cigs and beer , probably not but it's still not fully legal in the US so I add that to the do not use argument. If they made cigarette illegal I'd support that because those things stink to high heaven.

Always hope to see these guys turn their lives around. He is saying all the right things but only time will tell. Would be a huge boost to an already explosive offense.

It's a shame considering what sort of success & fame lies at his fingertips. Always makes me sad to see these "what could have been" types and hope for the best with them. But after 5 or 6 failed drug tests I'm not very empathetic.
