I wonder what the Steelers sent & why would the Browns give up on him so early?

Another failure of a draft by the Browns. First and 2nd round picks are no longer on the team.

The Browns now have zero of the six players they drafted in the first round from 2011-14 on their roster

Damn... Just read they released Doran Grant too? That's strange.

Hell yeah! A young tall CB that just needs to literally get his head on straight.
For real. Sometimes all a player needs is a change of environment... Especially getting away from Cleveland. Even Mingo said it was a complete "culture shock" getting out of that city. Can't wait to see what the kid brings.

Steelers steal one. They get a quality player in a serious position of need for a 6th. Well done Pitt:clap:

Steelers updated CB depth chart:

1. William Gay
2. Ross Cockrell
3. Artie Burns
4. Justin Gilbert
5. Senquez Golson*

Golson is likely headed toward IR-recall with a lisfranc injury. But the team has been plugging 2nd round draft pick Sean Davis (SS) in at slot CB since he played there in college. So they have insurance. Pretty unstable group, but the talent is there. Time for Carnell Lake to prove whether he's a good coach or not!

Under the CBA rules, a player who gets placed on IR-designated to return must be on the final 53 man roster for 24 hours. I am betting Golson stays on it until tomorrow, at which time we will likely bring back Doran Grant (recently released) onto the active roster.

That'll make the position a little more comfortable.

Man the Browns are dumb. Just gave away the 8th overall pick from 2 years ago for a 6th round pick
Evidence that the Browns are still a black hole in the NFL

I think the kid was 8th overall...the expectation were for him to be a lockdown CB and it just never happened...whether it was a bad scheme fit or not idk, but for a 6th rounder...I like the move...word is he probably will get action in the return game early and hopefully he can thrive in the Steelers cover 3.

The reports on Gilbert have been very bad in terms of his intelligence and acclimation to pro coaching. He sounds like an idiot. So, maybe it pans out for the Steelers, but any time someone gets rid of a first rounder that fast you have to wonder.

The Browns must think he's absolute yuck if they're trading him to a division rival. I'd probably say that it's a flop of a trade for the Steelers if it was anyone other than the Browns on the other side of it. Who knows....

I think it’s definitely worth the risk. Minimal cost for what could be a maximum gain. Perhaps a change of scenery, a complete class organization and a coach that is the best motivator in the game probably, can get the light to turn on for this supremely talented athlete. Many a player has been near the garbage heap and given us quality time that otherwise hasn’t been harnessed. Pittsburgh does a very good job of getting the most from players in these situations, so why not this one?

Carnell Lake has yet to be given tools like this, so its time to see what sort of magic he can do with a very talented group.
