No way.

1. We play a different defense now.

2. Has a team's fired head coach ever returned to the team as an assistant coach? Egos don't allow it.

3. Why go backwards? There are many better for the Lions situation. You could plug in Austin's right-hand-man on the staff and hope things continue along swimmingly, or steal someone else from Baltimore.

That'd be crazy!

But he's definitely the best option to replace to Austin.

I know I'm just messing around. He prob burned his bridge getting carried off anyways. But I do wish him the best wherever he lands and expect him to be a top DC wherever he lands. My idea is better suited for Madden.

I like your idea to promote Austin's RHM, our current CB or LB coach right now I believe.

Bears are gonna grab Fox, Denver might promote Gase. Quinn wants the Falcons job but Blank is reported as really liking Austin.

I pray we have one more run w Suh and Austin together.

Teryl Austin - DL - Lions
Lions DC Teryl Austin has an interview scheduled with the Broncos on Friday.
Austin will interview for the second time with the Falcons on Thursday. Assuming he leaves Atlanta without a deal, he will visit with the Broncos on Friday. Austin has seemingly interviewed everywhere, but he has not emerged as a favorite anywhere.

Pretty much what I have been saying and suspected all along. He is most likely just this years Rooney ruler. Why else would he get more action then McDermott? Panthers D has been great for a few years now.

With the 49ers making a surprise hire IMO, I think things look a lot better today than yesterday.

What????

A source tells ESPN that part of Teryl Austin's pitch to the Falcons was to bring Adam Gase along as his offensive coordinator.
In search of his first head coaching opportunity, Austin is making an intriguing play. He's a defensive guru, one that quickly turned an annual liability in Detroit to the league's No. 2 unit. Gase not only has the support of Peyton Manning, but also won games with Tim Tebow at the helm of the Broncos. Still, the Falcons may wait until the Seahawks finish their playoff run so they can take a shot at DC Dan Quinn.

So our DC can snag a better OC than our HC??

And this....

The Falcons will request to interview Adam Gase for their offensive coordinator vacancy.
The Falcons don't have a head coach yet, but it doesn't look like Gase is under consideration for that job. Defensive specialist Teryl Austin is however, and he would form a nice pairing with the talented Gase. The ex-Broncos OC has also drawn interest from the Rams and Jaguars among others, but the Falcons are the heavy favorite right now.

Fire Caldwell and give the damn HC job to Austin if he really can bring Gase. Kill two birds with the same stone. Caldwell brings no real value and Lombardi flat out sucks.

Have Austin then talk to Suh about what he can expect from this team next year. Get a legit OC and without a doubt we are a contender. Plus a long term deal with Suh opens up cap space to play in FA.

Does Ford Jr. really care about winning? Or is he so stupid that he cant see who really got this team to the playoffs? For once can we get a Ford to do something proactively to win rather than reactively after everything has turned to complete shit?

Put in the call Meow. I'll be fucking pissed if we lose him. He was the only part of the coaching staff I did like. Caldwell can be head of player I don't give a fuck to save face if need be.

Finally feeling better about not losing Austin this year. Starting to like your guys idea of promoting Caldwell to senior coaching assistant or something and promoting Austin to HC next year. Even seems like something Caldwell would go for if his new position came w the right salary.

No word about Austin to ATL overnight. I think we're in the clear. Now let's get Suh to stay and make a run in 2015.
