I seen someone compare us going for it to GB going for it. Let me clear how stupid of a comparison that is.

The NFL odds for converting 4th and 1's I think is somewhere around 55-60%. That means on 4th and goal from the 1, out of 10 times you score 6 TDs(42 points) which is more than a FG from there(30 pts). Not only do those particular odds tell you to go for it every time, but if you don't get it THE OTHER TEAM IS BACKED UP!!!

Always(besides situations like down 3 with 1 second left) go for it on 4th and goal when you think you have at least 43% chance of converting(FG divided by TD).

He can bring in his own OC and a new patsy DC to run his current defense. He also would not make a ridiculous 2nd half challenge and waste a TO on what was an obvious call. He would also not go for a 4th and 10 in the first half in lieu of a 50 yd FG with the wind at his back and a kicker that holds the record for the longest FG in NFL history (which also allowed our starting guard to get injured).

In other words, things could possibly get a lot better.

The 4th and 10 call was outrageous. 49 yard field goal with the wind to your back.

Then the Challenge. Burning a timeout like that when you know you will need them at the end of the game cause you are trailing.

I stay away from Bears and Jets IMO. Do not see any quick success or any at all with either.

49ers will go from the list they already have. Don't feel he is on it.

That leaves Raiders and Falcons. Have not heard his name dropping a lot. Not sure he has proven enough to warrant a HC gig yet? I hope not I have not got used to seeing a defense in the D.

Keep in mind that both Seattle and Arizona DCs are available and they will be ahead of Austin for sure. Not much chance a team hires him this year IMO.

I do not see them signing him as Mebane is fine and with RW getting paid soon. Not sure how much would be available. I can see FA money going to a WR or RB if they are not comfortable with Michelle taking over if Lynch is gone.

Austin needs at least 1-2 more years, minimum, to prove himself before he gets a true shot as a HC, IMO. If the Lions should be without Suh next year and that defense plays similar statistically compared to the 2014 version, then maybe there's a slim chance Austin get's a look for a HC in 2016. He'll be on the Rooney list most assuredly this year.


Suh to the Jets, IMHO. Woody Johnson already has 40 mil in cap space (42 players signed through 2015). Current DT, Sheldon Richardson, could easily be moved to DE, moreso than Suh in that 3-4 alignment. The Jets have a solid front 7 and Johnson might just like to make a splash in the FA market. All this depends on who is hired as GM and a coach but Johnson has been known to override GM's/Coaches decisions in the past.

The 1 problem that exists regarding the Dan Quinn hire, is that many of the available asst. coaches are going to be gone by the time ATL would be able to hire Quin, meaning after the Hawks season ends. It might be tougher to build the staff he had hoped for.
