in front of a sparse crowd (6,306) - The game was played in Dallas, not Phoenix.
I guess the Rangers in the ALCS would have something to do with the tiny crowd (Monday Night Football as well).
Columbus vs Canucks Attendance: 9,187 (50.7% full) in Columbus.
Yea, I saw the highlights on TV... That is sad. It's the beginning of the season, no pro team should have that horrible of a showing for fans. Move them. FUCK DALLAS.
Dallas > KC
Phoenix > Somewhere in the Northwest
Florida will tank for two more years and wind up in QC.
NYI will figure something out for an arena and stay in LI.
I am a prophet.
FUCK YOU
Rangers take precedence over the Stars right now, and the game started at 5pm local time. 5pm, right in the middle of rush hour traffic and people getting off work, and there is no way to get to the AAC without getting on I-35 which is a NIGHTMARE in rush hour traffic.
Know what you are talking about before you spout off.
Interesting, I forgot the Rangers were playing. That will definitely affect attendance. So I guess that the next few games that are played at their normal time and are not on the same night as a Rangers game will tell if they will have a good crowd or not.
Out of curiosity does anyone have their last years attendence numbers handy?
The crowds for Stars games are pretty good, when the time is reasonable and baseball is over. There isn't ever an overlap with the Mavs for obvious reasons, and hockey is somewhat big here. There is a LOT of Tom Hicks hate though, so now that he is out the attendance should go up even more.
For the life of me I can't ever remember 5pm start times for the Stars. It is always 7 or 7:30 or on a weekend.
Last year we averaged about 15k per home game, which was about 80% full.
chicago had 7,000 in attendance when i went to the SJ-Chi game at the united center in 2007
Yeah, a 5PM start time is just stupid. Did they do that to work around the Rangers game?
I don't even like early games on TV. I hate East Coast road trips becuase the game is half way through the third by the time I get home.
I know the Stars had drawn well for years, but I wasn't sure if their expected declining record had effected attendance. Although I guess last year they were leading the division until that late meltdown so I guess there wasn't an expected declining record... so nevermind
Not sure. Rangers were supposed to be off yesterday, but the rain delay pushed them over. Plus, the Rangers started at 3:19pm local, so that worked against the stars even more.
Attendance has suffered, but it is more anti-Hicks than anything else. He is DESPISED by the sports fan in this town. I know I avoided Ranger games until he was out, then went to a lot late last season. Last thing I wanted was to put money in that assholes pocket.

I thought the Stars were owned by their creditors now? Aren't they close to being sold?
