That loss on Saturday was bad. At the moment, the difference between 3rd and 4th place in the division, and 3 games out rather than 2 in the WC race.

That NLC is a real dog fight. Pirates came up big against St. Louis, but now they have to go there and play them again. At least it looks pretty certain now that they are at least assured a wild card, though winning the division is obviously much more desirable. Injuries to Molina and Beltran could really help both the Pirates and the Reds. The roster additions that Pitt made also seem to me like they could be very helpful.

Bart Scott was on WFAN this morning, pimping his new show that starts Sunday, mainly, but they asked him about his last season and he said he basically was plying on 9 toes, since the big toe of one foot had lost the ligament and the three bones that connected it to the foot. So he had to wear shoes that were a size too big and stuffed with padding, couldn't flex the toe, and had loose bone material flopping around in there. When they asked him why didn't anyone SAY he ws injured, he said "because I didn't want other teams to be trying to step on it..."
