Well at least Seattle is going to do their "thing" correctly.

I have no issue locking arms while standing & believe this was done before during the 9/11 aftermath.

You have some bad word choice then. Calling someone unamerican certainly implies you're more american than X.

As for the rest of the post, I agree that telling people to leave the country is uncalled for.

I said leave the country if you don't like it, and that the beauty of this country you can leave, unlike communist countries. You wanna complain about your job, you can leave. You wanna complain about your wide, get a divorce or have her go on an extended vacation. Sure this country is far from perfect, but I wouldn't live anywhere else except Sweden cause of the women

You wanna complain about a country where you are given the freedom to sit during the anthem... You can leave...

There's things I don't like about America... And I've fought for Kaep's right to be able to say and do what he is saying and doing for the reasons he is. I've also fought for my right to call him a fucktard for how he is going about it as well. But hell no I am not leaving this country even if there are things here that I disagree with fully.

I mean saying "don't like it, you should leave" is just retarded. Guess what, North Korea makes sure everyone stands for their anthem. So does Russia and China. You should leave for there if that's what you want...

See... It's a pointless statement.

You must have a hard time reading... I don't think anyone has ever said they don't have the right. Our point isn't that we don't think they have the right to do these things, but that they are misguided idiots to think their protests will solve anything. We fully acknowledge that there is a problem with the way minorities are treated in America, but if they think using this platform to express their message is going to solve the problem then they are idiots. They come off as attention whores more than anything. And to think one of the main messages we send doing the anthem prior to these games is to honor the men & women that protect our freedoms. "Opting" not to do so is a direct slap in the face to those people. He owes every penny that he owns to those people... I do, you do, we all do.
This has gotten money donated, eyes on it and people talking about it. It's worked exactly like it should.
You're taking this stand just to screw with people aren't you? You can't be this angry and dumb?
You're like one of the idots that protest WTO, while wearing a pair of Nike shoes.
Not that I agree with what Seattle plans to do but at least it's not disrespectful. They will STAND QUIETLY locking arms in solidarity. This is a much better way then simply disrespecting the country's national anthem.
Bottom line there are other ways. You and Kaep just aren't smart enoughto figure that out.

Have you stopped to think about what you would do in that said situation? I highly doubt you have. I have no dog in this fight but come on man you can't say, "just arrest them" when they have a gun and want to shoot people and probably want to shoot cops more than anything else.

You do realize the issue at hand is unarmed people of color being killed by law enforcement, correct? These people did not have guns and were not a mortal threat.

Of course we're not talking about all police, just the bad eggs. A good example is the Boston police department, which hasn't had an unarmed suspect killed in what, 20 years? The police need to more a part of their community, not an armed task force too quick to pull the trigger.

Exactly. Do all of you assholes on this site stand for the anthem when you are watching games at home or in a bar or wherever? I bet you don't.

I skip the anthem, as much commentary as possible, and all commercials, bouncing between the locally televised games and the red zone channel.

So cops have to wait to be shot at first? You don't care that if they wait to be shot at first, that may be it? 38 police officers have died due to gunfire this year (so far). These people had families that they wanted to go home to. Cops aren't mind readers. If someone is acting sketch or violent, they run the risk of having something really bad happen to them. It's that simple.

Anyone who shoots because they feel threatened by an unarmed person shouldn't be a cop. Whatever happened to shoot to wound, not kill anyway? Are these cops that sketchy with a weapon?

I only meant that I never made a claim about how "American" I am compared to him. He's the one acting like he's the guardian of America so I merely pointed out that his viewpoint actually departs from the viewpoint of some of the greatest Americans in our history.

I think the key difference here is that the people you mentioned stood up & fought. What Kaepernick and supporters are doing is coming off as all talk and no action. So he sits during a song? What does that do? The issue he thinks he's bringing attention to is already talked about every day here. It's nothing new. Now what is he going to DO about this supposed oppression? Yes, he has s platform, but I feel like he's coming off as a spoiled child instead of a man. I can't help but think of Pat Tillman when this shit comes up. He's someone that had a similar platform and instead of putting on a dog & pony show, he DID something for what he believed in.

Fuck you, Colin.

I don't know the details but I've heard that Kaepernick does a lot of community service geared toward this issue. No one will mistake him for George Washington or Martin Luther King. He's not even close to on their level. The point is that it's stupid to say Kaepernick should leave the country because he doesn't like the way things are here. Like you said, if you don't like the way things are, do something about it.

You're right that the issue is already out there and it's nothing new. My guess is that more people are thinking about the issue today than they were before he started sitting for the anthem.

Now, whether the BLM movement is misguided or has its own issues is a totally separate discussion.

Ben Franklin spent decades there just before the rev war.

Thomas Mifflin (pres of the continental Congress) was a quaker who was born in England but was in the US for religious freedom with his family.

William Davie came to America with his family for religious freedom.

James Wilson for religious freedom...

Robert Morris?

And plenty of others were in the British colonies because their parents or grandparents didn't like the way things were over there.

So a handful of them? And maybe one or two prominent founding fathers but none of the major ones (since I'm not counting Ben Franklin.) Point being that the founding fathers lived in America and did not want to leave their homes just because their government sucked.

Aside from that, how well did simply leaving the country work for those people who left because of oppression? 150 years later, they were still in a crappy situation and had to wage war against England for their independence. Aside from that, there isn't an entire continent available to be settled today where people like Kaepernick can start anew, even if it were a good idea to leave the country.

Protesting in silence is about as useful as praying when it comes to trying to solve a problem. Actions speak louder than words (and thoughts).

As far as standing for the national anthem, I could not care less. The fact that he/they are disrupting an NFL game to do it is more of an issue.

Finally, why is anyone noticing? Shouldnt everyone have been focusing on the flag? Doesnt this mean that someone else with a camera was not paying full respect to the flag? Shouldnt these cameramen be held accountable for their disrespect?:heh:

Well thank god it's impossible for weapons to be concealed.

As far as the shooting ability of cops...are you basing your judgement off your video game experience???

Guess your missing the point which is retarded. Go to your boss and complain and most will say " if you don't like it the door is right there, which is leave and I could give you 10 other examples. When you told somebody to fuck the, selves I don't think you expected to go home and grab a dildo and actually do it, figure of speech. If you don't like my comments you can leave this country and go to North Korea:suds:

Not the issue I was addressing and neither was he. I get what you are saying and I totally understand that and those bad apples who have shot and killed unarmed men and women should be prosecuted and I am not saying I am not for that.

Listen i came from Europe in the 60's because my parents didn't like the situation, so they left. I'm staying here and never leaving. God Bless America, the flag, all the soldiers and cops that risk their lives daily and the lost from the 9/11 tragedy 15 years ago.
