This is quite possibly the stupidest stance you can take on the issue.

Did the founding fathers say: "Fuck it, we don't like what the British are doing. Let's get out of here." Did Martin Luther King decide that America wasn't treating black people properly so he was going to leave? So many of the great things that have happened in America are because people didn't like the way things were and decided to stand up and fight for what is right.

Go read a history book and stop with the fake patriotism.
I'm sure a few years from now Collin Kaepernick will be etched into our history books for this one... smh

I think the key difference here is that the people you mentioned stood up & fought. What Kaepernick and supporters are doing is coming off as all talk and no action. So he sits during a song? What does that do? The issue he thinks he's bringing attention to is already talked about every day here. It's nothing new. Now what is he going to DO about this supposed oppression? Yes, he has s platform, but I feel like he's coming off as a spoiled child instead of a man. I can't help but think of Pat Tillman when this shit comes up. He's someone that had a similar platform and instead of putting on a dog & pony show, he DID something for what he believed in.

Fuck you, Colin.
:agree:

THIS... So much this...

Well that is why our founding father's left England, so I'd have to say Yes to your question.

My post has nothing to do with Kaepernick and everything to do with the fact that the contents of your post are moronic and unamerican.

I'm not claiming to be more or less American than anyone. I'm simply suggesting that a person shouldn't tell someone to leave the country when they don't even understand the principles upon which the country was founded.

You have some bad word choice then. Calling someone unamerican certainly implies you're more american than X.

As for the rest of the post, I agree that telling people to leave the country is uncalled for.

If Krap and Co. want anyone to buy what they're selling, they should probably quit trying to piss off all the customers.

This country has oppressed black people for a long long time.

You misspelled "a long time ago."

Black Americans are not oppressed. Not even slightly, any more.

Black people get preferential treatment getting into college, getting business loans and getting jobs in the banking industry. It's illegal to deny blacks any good or service or right anyone else has. And anyone who says or does something bad against black people gets lit up on facebook & twitter while getting sued into the middle ages if they're a business.

Racism as a systemic, common thing in America is dead. ACTUAL cases of racism are headline news, now. Stop trying to keep racism on life support.

I think you mistake de jour racism with de facto racism. Society doesn't move that fast regardless of what a law says now.

However fast it moves, we have arrived in a time when racism does not keep blacks in oppression any more.

There will always be a**holes who say offensive crap, but being offended =/= being oppressed.

And cops kill whites at HIGHER RATES (both rates and totals) than blacks in total confrontations. So that argument is a lie believed by people who are too lazy to look up table 43 on the FBI database.

John Adams and Ben Franklin. But they were living in England on US business.

No. Our Founding Fathers were descendants of people that came over from England. Not one of them was born and raised in England.

Ben Franklin spent decades there just before the rev war.

Thomas Mifflin (pres of the continental Congress) was a quaker who was born in England but was in the US for religious freedom with his family.

William Davie came to America with his family for religious freedom.

James Wilson for religious freedom...

Robert Morris?

And plenty of others were in the British colonies because their parents or grandparents didn't like the way things were over there.
