In some categories, some not, and definitely not a category that holds and SHOULD hold a huge amount of weight when it comes to HOF voting

Eli leads them all in Int% by roughly a full half point (3.2% for Eli, everyone else at roughly 2.6% and Brady at 1.8%). :thumb: So he's got that going for him.

Phil seems eager to catch up with his 21 picks this season

No actually. See my previous post. You seem a bit slow on the uptake this morning.

Yeah you say that you're not trying to diminish Eli's career yet you said this (#24): "The Hall doesn't need another Joe Nammoth type qb mucking up the place. He's a longshot @ best." The only slow person right now is you.

But keep pretending that Eli & Namath's #'s are similar across the board.

Wamu facepalm's a factualy post. Interesting.

Again you called me slow for not agreeing w/ you. All I have done is pointed out you are badmouthing Eli for really no reason because you're saying he does have the #'s to get into the HOF. So what I said is correct.

They are very similar for their respective Era's.

Eli and his pop gun offense put up a whopping 19 points against an awful team that had nothing to play for.

I'm impressed.

I have yet to badmouth him.

Maybe you should go back and actually read what I said?:noidea:

Here I'll post it again for you.

He is a serviceable QB with meh stats and flashes of greatness. I don't think that qualifies as HoF material.

So where did I badmouth him?

Oh and by the way I said you were a little slow on the uptake this morning, a bit different than simply calling you slow.

Do you understand that you said Eli's #'s are similar to Namath's? That's not correct across the board & Eli isn't a Joe Namath type QB. I'll show you what I'm mean...

yards: Eli- 48,214 / Namath- 27,663
TD to int's: Eli- 320 to 215 / Namath- 173 to 220
completion %: Eli- 59.7% / Namath- 50.1%
playoff record: Eli- 8-3 / Namath- 2-1

And I understand it's a different NFL today than back in Joe's day but it's clear their #'s aren't similar.

Really, where did I say that there stats are identical?

I said the HoF doesn't need another Joe Namath. As in a person that is mediocre for their era.

Now adjust for the different era they played in and you essentially have the same guy.

From Pro Football Focus this year on Eli,

Not only wasn't he very good last season, he's even worse this season. Ouch!

With Hall of Fame numers like those, who needs a HoF?

They actually are. Namath played before the WC offense was invented and it was much more of a running game than a passing game. Most people who know football understand this. A majority of the QB's threw more INT's than TD's.....it was just a different game.

Nobody is saying Eli is horrible but if you want a comparison to somebody who has played more recently? Trent Dilfer. He won a SB because he had a dynamite running game and a great defense.

His career 59.7% is less than stellar and he has 320 TD's but has also thrown 215 INT's.....not a good ratio at all and that's his biggest criticism. Not a huge fan of QB Rating but it's one of the things that QB's are judged on. 83.7 isn't considered good at all. And his 7.1ypa when you have the WR's he has? Not very good.

None of this adds up to HOF'er.

ESPN 2013,

At least he was on the uptick the following season in 2014. So there's that.
