The Cowboys' official website expects second-round rookie Demarcus Lawrence to open the season as the starting right end.
Dallas traded up to No. 34 to grab Lawrence in May's draft in an effort to replace DeMarcus Ware. Lawrence will compete with veteran Jeremy Mincey, but should have no problem outperforming him. He has a chance to make an IDP impact right away under DC Rod Marinelli. George Selvie is penciled in at left end.

The plan is to rotate players constantly to keep them fresh. I think Crawford gets snaps at all positions. I think he may play more than any other DL on this team.

yeah I figure the same thing. But I see Crawford "named" as a starter when week 1 comes along. Which I would figure would have been LE. So while I know he will/can play anywhere on the DL. Really wouldn't have expected him to be named as an Interior starter.

I think Selvie, Crawford and Melton will be starters and on the field the most of DLinemen, and that 8-9 guys play at least 15-20 snaps

I think who "starts" isn't important. While it would be great to have the team feel Lawrence is so good that he should be on the field for both run down and passing down snaps I still am skeptical of that being the case day 1. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Crawford "started" at LDE and kicked inside in the nickel. Melton is still the only guy we know that is all but assured of being the starter at a particular position. With MUCH rotation (and assuming no Spencer) I'd go something like as starters: Crawford, McClain/Hayden, Melton, Mincey/Selvie as starters unless Lawrence really proves to be ready to play FT. Then in the nickel I'd go Selvie/Mincey, Crawford, Melton, Lawrence...again assuming Lawrence is ready and with a lot of rotation at all spots. I think we are going to see a lot of moving parts on this DL and I think that is going to be a good thing. I'm still not counting out Bass to make the team and contribute. I just don't know what position he best fits at. He seems a lot like Crawford to me. A guy that can really play anywhere on this DL and that is why I still think he makes the team.

I originally had Crawford as only a DE, when I read there are plans to have him at DT I shook my head. Later I read where he'd fill every role along the DL to support the rotation I understood better and liked the idea. I have a feeling the team thinks he may be our best DLmen. If that good or not I don't know yet.

It will be hard to judge a player by total number of sacks this yr with the rotation. I like the 7th rounder named gardener as well.

I hope so and don't necessarily disagree. I guess my point on him not necessarily starting is more that we need him more in the nickel and if we are going to rest him and rotate other guys in I'd prefer it against the run. Also,it's OK if he doesn't start and in no way means it wasn't a good pick or that he won't be a FT player at some point.
