Anytime you hire a new head coach it is not a sure thing. How many times do you see a coach that has won 70-80% of the games they coached be available to be signed? When you hire a head coach you are looking for certain traits and I think every search is a little different based on the recent history of the team, and experiences of the person doing the search.
Everyone thinks Eric Bieniemy is going to be the next greatest coach. He might be but he might not be. I think it is about as hard to evaluate coordinators potential as a head coach as it is to project a college QB to the NFL.

After McDaniels, I'm not buying some hotshot young OC just because he has a SB ring or two. A new HC has to prove they can lead a whole team. The good news is most guys don't let their ego grow out of control before they've even coached a whole season.
