You are not wrong, sir. This is just typical banter with Eric.
IMHO, there really isn't a conference that is a lot better than any of the rest of 'em this year...as opposed to other years. Even then, I'm not convinced there is a lot of separation among the P5s anyway. You move some teams from one to the other and they'll perform about like they did in the one they left. Hell, A&M and Mizzou are perfect examples. They've finished the past few years in the SEC divisions just about like they did in their Big 12 divisions.

Two of the three undefeated P5s this year are Bama and Wisky. And if they'd have faced some better conference teams (especially in back to back games) they'd probably have dropped a game...if not more. Even with all those 4-5 star back ups, no way Bama would have gotten through some of those previous SEC schedules undefeated with those injuries.

Miami is having a magical year but the ACC doesn't seem to be as up to par as it has been either. And they may be peaking at the right time.

I don't disagree. It just seems like overall, there hasn't been a team in the Pac 12 who has put together a very impressive win, let alone an entire season. Washington and USC have both taken steps back. I know USC is 9-2, but they haven't looked good at all. Their best win is a 42-24 win over Stanford, who has shown that without Bryce Love, they are horrible. Thankfully he only missed the game vs. the worst Pac 12 team and arguably the worst P5 team, and Stanford still only escaped by 1 point. Meanwhile Washington hasn't had a good win all year.

I think that's why USC is out of the top 10, and it would appear that they're the only team in the conference that has a chance to be top 10. Meanwhile, all the other conferences have multiple teams in or around the top 10.

Yes, but it amazing how many people think this is absolute truth ... how about some good old fashion football to settle it. Winner of the PAC 12 out ... the Winner of the B1G may be out ... this is why we need an 8 team playoff. More than 8 teams would water it down.

We don't need an 8 team playoff.

It would be if Boise had that record in a real conference. Are you telling me there's no way 6-4 UVA would be 8-2 if they got to face the garbage Boise gets to feast on?

I'm telling you the Pac 12 has a ranked win OOC and the B1G doesn't. You're just throwing around all these hypothetical situations for some reason, and I'm providing a fact.

Cool, and yet it has no bearing on anything clearly.

All 3 years have provided evidence that an 8 team playoff should exist, IMO.

2014 - TCU and Baylor had very strong cases
2015 - Ohio State and Stanford had very strong cases
2016 - Penn State, Oklahoma, and USC had very strong cases

All 3 years, these teams could've played with anyone in the actual playoff. I think they should expand it and give us more amazing football games to end the year.

If you're trying to reward the team playing the best at the end of the season those teams had arguments to be in the discussion. Baylor is the only one of those teams that can make a case that they deserved to be playing for a national championship to be the best team with the best season in college football. But, if we reward best teams at the end of the season then the games mean a whole lot less. The past few years have been perfect, we have playoff games during the season and so many games have playoff implications.

And, only Baylor had a case to be in the top four most deserving at the end of the season. Expanding to 8 doesn't change anything, it just means more teams will be deserving of a spot in the top 8. Good teams will still be left out.

No, North Carolina needs a 128 team playoff ... the rest of us 8 is real good number.

North Carolina has been closer to the 4 team playoff than Michigan has been...

We need an eight team playoff because conference champions should move on. Last year was a great example, Penn State won the B1G and ohio state was sent to the playoffs (rightfully so) ... Penn State should have gone to the playoffs as well. Western Michigan was undefeated and deserved a chance to find out if they belonged on the big stage. It is possible to have 5 undefeated P5 teams ... who gets left out?

I’m not looking for a spot for Michigan. They’ll earn it or they won’t ... 8 teams gives no one a bitch and there is enough time to play it.

I don't disagree with that sentiment to a point. However, I wouldn't say Baylor is the only team that was deserving during that time frame. TCU in 2014 also had a really good argument. Ohio State was 11-1 in 2015 and loaded with studs that are killing in the NFL right now. They were the most talented team in the nation that year who had 1 last second loss to a top 5 team and that was it. The case for them being one of the 4 best teams was very solid.

What about the case of them being the best?

Michigan State would've been left out the first year of the playoffs, so how does expanding to 8 help?

Good chance the B1G gets left out if things don't break their way(minus Wisconsin winning out)

The B1G doesn’t deserve to be in anyways. Wisconsin is honestly the only team with a legit shot and if Notre Dame and Georgia hasn’t lost, a case could have easily been made to keep them out as an undefeated B1G champ — that is how bad their schedule has been.

I don’t see any chance whatsoever that the CFP committee puts OSU in, as they not only have two losses, but two bad losses where they were completely outplayed. I think OSU would need a total collapse by a half dozen teams to get in. (And this is meant as no disrespect to OSU fans).

I know a few OSU fans have said they won’t look at past year’s, but with the B1G getting embarrassed two years in a row — if the B1G doesn’t have a no doubter team to put in the CFP, they will be on the outside looking in.
