Gotta admit, I think this is sort of important for the NHL discipline going forward. If they actually want to change the precedent, this is the place to do it. That said, I'm not sure that they want to. When did Shanny takeover btw? I can't recall. Trying to think if this may be his biggest "challenge" since taking over.

Shanny is not qualified to rule on this. Bettman needs to step up to the plate, but only will in an appeal situation it seems.

Gee, why am I not surprised?!? The guy has 764 career penalty minutes. If you read that whole article and all of his quotes, you certainly can tell the guy is nothing but a knuckle-dragging buffoon. One thing I do find interesting is Janssen says even if Orpik didn't want to throw down with Thornton and go, then he should have just made a charade of it, and hung on to Thornton while Shawn bludgeoned him so he could, 'receive his justice'.

I've played hockey, at all kinds of different competitive levels, for more than 30 years now.

Cam Janssen is just moaning about players who can do something other than get punched in the head for a living. Without fighting he'd be digging a ditch as we speak. Is there any wonder he's advocating (I use this word in the loosest possible sense) that more people fight in the NHL?
