So now that Beck is done for the year, Georgia has to be removed from the Playoff, right?

I mean, that was the standard set by the Committee last year -- if a team loses their quarterback, they are out of the Playoff, regardless of what they may have accomplished during the season.

Or wait, let me guess, different rules will be made-up on the fly to advantage SEC teams? Quelle surprise. Apparently Florida State should have hidden the extent of Travis' injury until it was too late.

you do understand that the playoff has already started, right? the committee has made their decisions, and the first round of games have already occurred. Y...you do realize that, yes?

ah I see. So you actually thought Florida State was deserving last year, prior to his injury? I didn't. But, even without Beck, I DO still think that Georgia still deserved to be in the playoff; they're still good good enough, as a team, to be there. Florida State simply wasn't, even WITH their starter. And remember, there were only 4 spots last year, there's more room for error with 12 this year, so it's not really an apt comparison.

But, if you want to spend your Christmas Eve crying into your baby formula about big bad Georgia being in the playoffs, you do you.

As you might be aware, no undefeated major conference champion has ever been excluded -- except one who lost their quarterback -- so like I said, rules were made-up on the fly to advantage SEC teams.

And that's the issue. If we're going to pretend that any of this is meaningful, there have to be some rules, or standards. The standard was set last year -- and now you want to ignore it this year. Apparently in both cases due to the misguided belief that the SEC is vastly superior, when there is precious little, if any, evidence of that found on actual football fields.

And hopefully they wouldn’t go on to lose by 60 points……

As noted recently in another thread, Florida State played their second and third strings in that game, for a variety of reasons. And those backups lost only slightly worse than #9 Mississippi and #20 Kentucky did to that same Georgia team.

So if two top-20 teams were only a little better than FSU's reserves, the Seminoles had a pretty strong group -- as LSU discovered.

If the playoff had been twelve teams last year FSU would definitely have made it so your point is moot.

No, it isn't, because Georgia is seeded #2 and would've made a 4-team playoff this year -- with two losses, unlike undefeated Florida State.

One thing about the Seminoles... even though they got SCREWED last year, they showed a lot of pride and character this season... really proved the doubters wrong.

"Obviously" an undefeated major conference champion would be in a field of 4... how'd that work out for those kids in Tallahassee?

Not with a relatively strong field and down to your 4th qb no. Most years they would have been and would have been stomped. So the correct decision was made.

The number of teams that truly deserve to be in a championship playoff varies from year to year. Some years there are more than four teams. Some years there are fewer than four. (2022). Last year there were 6 teams that deserved to be in, and FSU was one of them. Unfortunately, there were only four places, so two teams that deserved to be in had to be left out. Georgia because of a 3 point loss to Alabama and FSU because of their weakness at QB.

They had a chance to prove that they should have been in. Georgia manned up and seized the chance for redemption. In marked contrast, Florida State pouted and sulked, and the result was a 63-3 beatdown and the subsequent sinking of the FSU program. Apparently some people are still pouting and sulking.

The problem has been rectified this year. With 12 teams in, FSU had every chance to be in this year - if the program hadn't imploded.

idk man they were down to their 4th string qb...

And? In what other sport do we disqualify teams from the playoffs for losing their QB/star player? If the Chiefs lose Mahomes at the end of the regular season...are they kept out of the playoffs?

Why should cfb be the only sport that does this?

If we had to pick from 4 teams then yes I'd leave KC out in that scenario
