I think the bears tried a similar strategy in case fields doesn’t work out next year. Carolina is probably going to be very bad and they might still get another first next year.

It is rare that you will ever see a GM take so little for the 1st overall pick in the draft as we saw this year. Chicago gave up major trade leverage early just in case all the QB's pissed the bed during the predraft process.

If Williams is what people expect him to be this coming season and the Skins finish with 6-9 wins, they likely wouldnt have the ammo to go get him.
As Redskin fans know, normally trading up into the #1 or #2 pick overall, even if drafting at say, oh I dont know, pick #6 overall takes a crazy amount of draft pick value. This year was an anomaly. We might see the #1 overall pick go for as little as the Bears go this year maybe one more time in our lifetime.....and that is if you are still young. If you are over 55, you probably wont see it again.

It amazes me how talking heads always put the Skins in the trade rumor mill. And not just a normal big trade, but a humongous trade..

Trading back to secure draft capital next year is smart if there’s a plan to compete this year too, and there are people the skins are targeting at their trade back slots.

If they are simply trading back to hope and pray that they have enough for any one player, they are bound to fail.

At this point I dont think too many fans would expect the former (an articulate plan for a trade back scenario) as opposed to the latter (hope and pray that the stars align).

Next yrs qb class is strong , I have done numerous mock drafts that get us good players this yr while getting draft capital next yr . What you do with it is another matter altogether

Any chance Caleb pulls an Eli and says Washington or I'm going back? He's an area kid.
