Makes me feel good knowing the 76ers are using 2 assets they got from the Kings to get the top pick in the draft.....thanks Vlade.

Didn't they get the #3 pick back from the magic in a deal that everyone knew was laughably bad at the time?

The #3 pick this year? They got that because the Kings moved up and Philly had a pick swap. I don't doubt the magic would make laughably bad deals, but that 3rd pick wasn't from them.

But they only had the ability to swap because of the Payton deal. Which was terrible. Same price philly moved up here for moving 12 to 10

All I know is the Kings made a shitty deal with Philly 2 years ago to clear cap space and try to contend, which gave the 76ers swap rights in 2016 and 2017 along with the 2019 pick. In the lottery the Kings moved up from 8 to 3 but it was quickly swapped with Philly(had #4 originally) who gave Sacramento the 5th pick. You might be right about a Payton deal, but the reason the 76ers didn't end up with the 5th pick this year is because Vlade made a dumb trade.

Bottom line, those are two terrible franchises.

They could both be contracted and not really missed.

Yes, traded #10 Elfrid Payton for the rights to #12 Dario Saric and their PHI 2017 pick back (which was traded away to ORL in the 2012 Howard trade, ugh!).

So, 2018 LAL pick is protected #1 and #6+.

If it doesn't convey to BOS then :
2019 SAC pick is protected #1 and BOS would receive the more favorable of SAC/PHI 2019.

More proof Danny fails again.

I wouldn't classify a failure as someone that has already won a championship as GM.
Pretty sure we would suffer alike for just one of those.

That being said, is this about DA being confident that LAL will stink in 2018 or SAC in 2019???
And isn't there more risk involved in that both of those are #1 protected.

Let me ask this another way...
BOS #1 for SAC #5 and #10, does either side say no?
If BOS wants Tatum, wouldn't he still be there at #5?

If this draft is so good and SAC is picking up two top-10 pieces, then by default they should be decent in 2019, especially with loads of cap room and their 2018 pick intact.

Apparently Boston did say no.

Because the rumor is Sacto did offer that.

I guess they felt that the drop off to 5 would prevent them from getting the guy they wanted.

At #3 they are assured to get one of Jackson or Ball or whomever else they may be thinking. #5 almost certainly would mean that Jackson is gone. Ball and Fox as well.

That is some pretty interesting conditionals on this trade.

So they get the Lakers pick next year if it 2-5. Otherwise they get Kings pick in 2019. Unless the Sixers pick is higher in which case they get the Sixers pick. Unless it is the No. 1 overall pick in which case they get the other pick.

I had to read that a couple of time. But, yes.

If 2018 pick doesn't convey, BOS picks the better of PHI/SAC 2019, unless it's #1, in which case they get the pick that wasn't #1.

which means 2019 could be a fucking trainwreck for Boston. Is the sixers pick protected at 1-1 or just the Sacto pick?

Either is protected. 2019 could end up poorly for the Celtics but it would require an almost perfect storm of bad things to happen.

Not really.

Sixers land one good FA this summer.

The Lakers get some bad luck in the lottery (and it's doubtful they'll be anywhere near as awful next year with Ball in the fold) and the Kings to hit the lottery.

Boom.

Fucked. Royally.

Danny failed no matter how you slice this up.

The only way this gets saved is if he somehow ends up with Porter and Mo Bamba.

IT requires that the Lakers improve significantly. Maybe Ball does that but I would say that for the Lakers to significantly improve they will need to see a dramatic improvement from Ingram and Russell.

It then requires that the Sixers improve dramatically in 2 seasons.

It then requires that the Kings get the No. 1 overall.

Yes all those things can happen. But they aren't likely to all happen.

I would be shocked if the Sixers are still a lottery team in 2019. Shocked.

If the Lakers pick fails to convey next year for either reason (I think it is reasonably likely, especially if they trade for George), then we are talking about the Sacto pick hitting, which isn't unlikely. I have a hard time seeing them being outside the bottom 3 teams.

So, we are probably looking at about a 10% chance that his pick ends up being in the late
teens. Still though, they are getting pick 3 this year. The risk is worth it beacuse it is more likely that one of those picks hits 2-5.

But even the worst team in basketball only has something like a 30% of getting the No. 1 overall pick.

The Celtics wanted more assets and clearly didn't want Fultz so they got what they could.

Wow so now the C's will get the player they want at the #3 spot, an extra high first round draft choice and trade for a superstar caliber player. BOOM.

So it now looks clear with todays Laker trade that Boston will get Jackson while moving down. Looks like a very solid move by Danny. Now the rumor is Knicks want Jackson in a deal for Porzingus. Really cheap contract to swap so maybe Smart is on the move
