DeriK Carr

Derik Carr and the Fresno State Bulldogs play about 3 miles from my house and If you have seen him play he is and will be a very good NFL caliber QB. Carr loves to play upbeat and fast, He has great accuracy, arm strength and he is such a motivated person on the sidelines with his team mates where Bradford can't come anywhere close to Carr. Matter of fact Carr has better numbers then So many QB's that were drafted last year and coming out next year which includes Bradford and Johnny football. What makes Carr different is attitude and determination which is on and off the field. He wants it and doesn't have any problem letting people know. I would love to see the Rams draft Carr but there could be so many scenarios in next years draft if Washington continues to lose games and gets a high pick. The Rams could be in a very good position to make deals which will benefit us for the future.

Big Ben isn't happy in Pittsburgh. How about a QB trade with the Steelers and then draft the QB of the future in the 2014 draft? You think the Steelers will go for it?

Big Ben wants $15-20 million a year. No thanks. It looks like 3-4 teams drafting in front of us will most likely take a QB. Jax, Hou, Minn, Tampa ALL could take QB's and as of now, Washington is right behind them - record wise.

So it's not looking like we will get one of the top rated QB's. But I do think it will work out. I think Bradford will have to take a reduced salary with a bum knee, no matter how good surgery went. Bring him back and pick up another QB later in round 1 or in round 2 and let them battle it out.

See 1st/2nd round draft pick thread for more of my details.

Yea SJ76, I like your scenario the best because we win either way. Ben is done. He is used up and to fork out that kind of cash for a used up QB is what the Rams used to do. Under Snead, that is not a likely scenario.

What the hell will they be paying Bradford next year? I like Big Ben, he's one tough SOB and would make the team better. However, the Steelers probably won't move him anyway so my post was really in jest.

Sam is not coming back with a re-structured contract at 15-20 million, I can tell you that right now. Maybe Sam is going to make that next year, but isn't guaranteed anything beyond next year I believe.

So you want to sign an aging QB to a $15-20 million contract?

Do you currently work for the Rams? Are you the guy who signed Drew Bennett? Scott Wells? because someone in the FO loves aging Free agents on the downside of their career. Who else am I leaving out?

Like I said, with all of young QB's coming out... I will take my chances and all of that dough elsewhere.

You would still draft a QB and Big Ben would be the QB for two year stop gap until the young QB is ready. Temas don't pay rookies neerly the amount of money now that the Rams p[aid Sam.

I looked it up he has two more years on his contract, and he's scheduled to make a base salary of $12.1 million in 2014 and $11.6 million in 2015 but his salary cap numbers are $17.9 million and $17.4 million Plus he's not that old at 31 so I'm sure he's got two years left in him and he's better than Sam.

As I said though, it's a moot point because he's said he'd retire before accepting a trade. I was just throwing it out there because I'm a fan of his.

BTW, Rothlessberger has nothing to do with those other guys you mentioned. He can actually play.

"...Are you the guy who signed Drew Bennett? Scott Wells?..."

Hell Bennett wasn’t even signed by the current regime. He was in the Linehan era if I’m not mistaken so that’s not even a good comparison, LOL.

It really doesn't matter who brought those turkeys in. It screwed the Rams and it's made me realize how dumb the Rams have been no matter who was in charge.

The POINT is that we don't need guys into their 30's making over 12-15 million. And also that Rams have a knack for bringing in former all pros in their 30s on the decline.

No thanks. Big Ben at 31 is a big mistake, especially with all of the talent coming in at QB. We could bring in 3-4 guys for that money - 2 at QB.

Manziel is really getting exposed in the elements at LSU. He doesn't have the arm strength to be a franchise guy at the NFL level unless he bulks up. He probably slips to Round 2 or 3. The wind is just knocking his balls down and Mettenberger isnt having the same issue

Clayton, I think his abilities have been exposed already but people have a need for some punk dude to be their hero. I have never been impressed with the guy and I am not about to start now.

I like Manziel. Kid had a bad day it happens. And it probably wrecks any Heisman hope, but he already has one of those. He has had a great college career will that translate to a great pro career ,don't know. But I can think of a few top tier pro QBs that were thought of as outcasts and punks when they came into the NFL and they went on to do very well. Time will tell.

Impressed. However New Mexico at 1-5 in the WAC is not impressive. Would love to see this kid against LSU in a bowl game.
