Yeah not drafting another O-lineman coukld be risky. But Fisher never has in the 1st!!! And if he doesn't and we find another OT somewhere....

My QUESTION is: How many teams really need a QB? And how many QBs are there in the draft? THIS wil be interesting.

Bridgewater. Top pick. Franchise prototype
Manziel. Top 15 pick. Russell Wilson type, not as smart with a weaker arm and nowhere near as humble.
Mariota. Top pick. Colin Kaepernick type with much better accuracy and feet coming out of school. Has the whole package. Higher IQ as well.
Carr. First round. Case Keenum type (who I think is a legit starter in this league) No idea?
Hundley. 2nd Round. Geno Smith type (Geno Smith can also get better) this is pretty accurate.
McCarron. 3rd Kirk Cousins type - also pretty right-on
Murray. 4th rounder. Andy Dalton type. Not as good as Dalton. I'm thinking Rex Grossman.
I did go against the grain with a few of my opinions.

Manziel does have a weaker arm than Wilson but not by as much as people think. He can make all of the throws from what I can tell. Manziel is also more mobile than Wilson but I think thats moot at the NFL level. The character is a big concern with him which is why I say top 5 and not top 3. You want a guy with a chip on his shoulder but you don't want a guy that thinks he is a celebrity. Honestly, thats the kind of stuff a GM has to decide after meeting the guy and going over what the private investigators dig up.

Mariota rolls out and splits up the field a lot. Bradford also did the same his rookie year. I want to see more success with Mariota on 3rd down. Stanford really flustered him into some very, very odd throws. To a certain degree, though, I don't think Mariota will bust. His arm is too strong and his legs are too fast. Worst case scenario for him would be like what Kaepernick has looked like this year outside of the Green Bay game.

Carr has inconsistent mechanics. He likes to throw off his back foot when pressured and it tends to float the ball a bit. There really doesn't seem to be any other flaws in his game, though, and its not like his back foot throws are Tyler Bray bad. He also doesn't really have any qualities that stand out as a game changer. He is good enough to play the position but not good enough to sniff a pro bowl.

Fales sucks. He leads the worst (IIRC) red zone offense in college football. The whole nation. I was watching him when I made the list UDFA

I want to like Hundley more. I want to see him come up big against good competition. He has long legs like Geno and it always looks like he is thinking about his footwork.

Boyd got a 3rd round grade last year which is why he stayed in college. I think Boyd does some very 'un NFL' things due to his system and the fact that there are always so many good players around him. There is some upside with him but he should probably sit for a year.

I want a QB also, 2nd or 3rd round though. Fisher needs to forget the not drafting a OL thing in the 1st round and take the best available OT in the draft right away. Safety or best WR with the 2nd pick in the 1st, then safety or QB in the 2nd and 3rd. I just think that as much as we need a QB for the future and that might change depending on what the Rams do with Bradford and his money thing, we need to push Sam with a game changer. The OT though is key. If Saffold makes it at OG and we can get Jones in there at center for Wells, we might just have something. Whether we want the new guy to play the RT for a while until Long goes away or if Long says he is good going to RT, the best available OT is important. The Redskins are tanking so the Rams might be in the line for top 5 or 6 in the draft. I think the Rams win more games then the Redskins do the rest of the way out but still draft in the 12 to 14 range.

.

So his great arm, great accuracy and leadership aren't stand out qualities? Ok.

I take it you've seen a lot of him. Do you think he'll be better than Bradford?

I've been able to watch him for 3 years:yahoo:. Yes, I think Carr, along with Marriota and Bridgewater, will be better than Bradford.

Carr has a really good shot to go top 10. He has the arm , accuracy and mind to be an elite QB. The reason he threw off his back foot so much last season was he had a hernia all year and played through it. He has been doing MUCH better this year.

I agree with the notion that he could go top 10. There is also still quite a bit of college ball and combines to look at and QB is the hardest position to evaluate from a sofa.

It does look like 4-6 QBs going in the 1st round. Bridgewater and Mariota as locks and others look to be looming. Is Andy Dalton safe, Tubbs?

You could add almost half the league if we're counting backups. A lot of teams have experienced hard times due to poor QB depth this year.

I doubt any team is looking for a back-up QB with their 1st or 2nd round picks. In the 3rd maybe. Everyone needs to fill in holes with starters - hopefully. Which is why I asked that question. There are many QBs coming out in 2014.

Should be interesting.

I haven't seen a single mock draft with the Rams taking a QB in round 1, btw

I would say alot of mock drafts are looking busted on draft day these days. No ones knows until it's your pick.

If what many of us are all wishing for and the Rams either cut Bradford because he refuses to renegotiate his contract, or preferably trade him, then all the Rams mocks will be out the window anyway. Of course that's just speculation that Bradford won't be back, like everything else at this point. In order for that to happen Fisher would have to swallow his pride and admit that he was wrong, which isn't likely.

Its honestly going to have more to do with the Redskins than Fisher, imo. If the Rams get a top 5 pick, a new QB is in the realm of possibility. Otherwise Fisher will almost undoubtably stick with Bradford

Fisher didn't come to the Rams just for Bradford alone, he came for the Draft picks as well. He's got 2 first rounders the next 2 years and that's tempting no matter who you are.

Yeah, but the problem is that somebody has to follow Fisher around with a mop because of how much he drools over Bradford. He would really look like one of the Wit brothers (Dim, Nit, or Half) if he abruptly changed his mind and drafted a QB. Don't know how he'd save face on that, even though that would be the best thing for the team.

Boss, I am not too sure we will have to worry about Fisher. I am almost 100% convinced he is taking the USC job. I will believe that until I hear someone else getting hired.

If the Rams draft Johnny Football, Mariota or Carr, they start from day 1. Period. If they don't draft a QB in round 1, Bradford will be back. Teams dont fool around with the most important position in football.

Oh how I would love this!
