Should the Lombardi Trophy be Renamed?

Tom Landry, Chuck Noll, Bill Walsh and Bill Belichick have all won more playoff games and NFL Championships than Vince Lombardi. Half of the young adults and none of the kids who watch the game today even know who Lombardi is. As time continues, less people will know who the trophy is named for.

Those are some good names that you brought up, but I still think Lombardi still deserves to have his name associated with the trophy. He, as coach, won the 1st two Super Bowls. He actually has more NFL Championships/Super Bowls than the other coaches you listed. He has a higher winning percentage. And like these other coaches, was very innovative on how the game is played.

Taking away his name from the trophy will definitely help forget his name. Kids today have Google. If they want to know why the trophy is named after him, they can search it, or ask any Packer fan. I find him very worthy to have his name still associated with the trophy.

I don't care if Lombardi deserves it or not. I know little about Lombardi, other then his pictures are ugly.
I do not like arbitrarily changing tradition.

I am one of keeping the old traditions alive. So much of the NFL game has changed that I still want the game to hold onto some of the roots of how we have gotten to the NFL game we have today. While yes not as many of the newer fans know who Lombardi is it at least makes them have to look at the history if they ever wonder why the trophy is called that. So many players and coaches sacrificed so much to give us the game we have today. Can't just take away a piece of that just to update it to a guy that the newer fans would know.
