If my math is right you could play every team in your conference twice and every team out of conference once in 41 games.

that may be but the regular season is ludicrous, they both suck, the MLB does not need 162 games. Every other day a guy is on rest, or off, or no one plays on sundays, or someones pinky hurts so they are on the 15 day DL. its so stupid.

On top of that its the SLOWEST game in history. half the game is fixing jock straps and fastening gloves. WHile the other guys stand around, or play around in the dug out and bullpens

yes you are correct, roughly 3 and changed depending on the source you use, with the amount of actual playing time u stated.

BUt yes in mlb there is about the same length of time and less playing time

A shorter season makes sense to me. Not 50 games but 76 games makes sense to me using this formula:

4 games vs. 4 divisional rivals = 16
3 games vs. 10 conference rivals = 30
2 games vs. 15 other conferece teams = 30

A 76 game season.

I mean, it will never happen because of money,

but if the NBA went to a 70 game season and MLB went to a 144 game season, I think both sports would benefit.

That way we are not playing World Series games in the snow in November and we are not starting the NBA season in mid-October and ending it in mid-June.

They aren't shortening the season for the same reason that they have expanded the playoffs in both leagues....money.

If they decided to shorten the season, they'd also likely pay the players less and the players aren't gonna agree to that.
