#Vancouver police responding to a report of a male carrying an AR15 style rifle near 71st and Granville St. Area search underway.


Immediate reaction of mine to this was just saying no over and over.

UPDATE: No suspect with rifle located in area of 71st and Granville. Additional reports indicate the rifle may be replica or safely secured.

Has their been any information whether this was a terrorist/ISIS motivated incident, or anti government? Or something else? I reckon there's a lot if speculation but anything confirmed?

I haven't seen anything confirmed. Speculation from American side (shocking...) and some mention about it on CTV as well, but they even said that the comment was just circumstantial.

i saw a vice news story this morning that the quebec hit and run driver was "radicalized"

nothing officially confirmed on today ... a witness said one of the shooters "looked arab"

nothing officially confirmed on today ... a witness said one of the shooters "looked arab"

Witness description of the one in parliament was "holding a rifle, 5'10, overweight, wearing a bandanna and black jacket." *shrugs* In today's day and age, it's far from shocking that the person was described as arab.

department of defense hasnt officially said the soldier is dead and MP Kenney is clamming up ... probably because he shouldnt have been the one delivering the news

Apparently other members of the conservative group that are holed up were told the solider had died. Weird that they would be the ones to know, but who knows.

CBC saying that military members are told to not wear uniform off-base, and on base don't make any stops before going home. In other words: don't wear it in public. Just because they're being targeted. Sickening.

My guess is that is an order they will disobey.

Curious about that, too, although early reports are that one carjacked a vehicle and breached perimeter security then went into the building blasting and was quickly subdued (which matches reports of a Parliament Security Guard being hit). While that was going on, a second guy ran towards the building on foot and that's the one they are looking for on the other side of the canal.

I mean, if a nut can hop the White House fence and run into the residence, I suppose anything is possible.

Yeah, not quite sure why Jason Kenney was delivering that news. At least he's more reputable than Rob Anders.

Several eyewitnesses have said the guy had a bandana over his face. I guess he had Arab Eyes.

they are holed up in a room .. i wouldnt go by what they are saying because their info is probably coming from twitter posts (like ours)

about 5 mins in to the situation i saw this photo posted by a sun reporter in the press gallery ... we were getting the news and she had no clue

The Quebec incident was different, in that the RCMP had been investigating the guy and had actually arrested him and taken his passport away but had no cause to hold him. This, I mean I doubt they even have an ID yet.

Very much so. Apparently, the barn is vacant tomorrow night anyway and neither team has a scheduled game so seemed the best decision no matter how you look at it.

Some of us ignorant Americans do know who Laura Secord is and what she did. Even if they don't teach it in U.S. schools.
