Man, that's depressing. And after I had all my "THE PREDATORS HAVE BECOME THE PREY" jokes ready for when they didn't match.

Bobby Ryan.. Come on down.. you're the next contestant on Philly's spending spree.

while saying the flyers spending money is normally clever and creative, the flyers haven't spent a dime this offseason, they're just letting everyone sign elsewhere

.. they've just been loud about it

cant wait to hear Sheas comments
what are the chances his press conference will just be visual

Well, that's one more defenseman off the market (Jay Bouwmeester is looking better and better)

:D
then you had best not let a prize like that slip away :thumb:

Well I'm glad that fiasco is over, lol. Hope weber likes obscurity for that is where his career is heading, Nashville just fucked up big time, lol..Gonna suck when they have no more money, still don't know how their gonna pay him this year and fill their rooster spots, I'm with DE Nashville is no place for hockey, lol..

umm.... they were reportedly prepared to sign both Suter and Weber to monster deals, and take a run at Parise.
Weber's cap hit is $7.5m, albeit for eternity. Signing him will not kill them. not signing him would have.

NostraDarkstone predicts the Flyers won't win the Stanley Cup.

NostraDarkstone is not prepared yet to make such predictions, however, NostraDarkstone does predict Semin will be a Penguin.

As long as they have the finances to make it through the first 3-4 years, they are actually going to do really well on this deal, actually. That was always the sticking point - can the Preds afford to spend 13 million on a 7.8 cap hit a year? And I guess Nashville feels that answer is yes.

Let's not be bitter just because we didn't get our stud Dman, SuperFlyer. Rather, let's be bitter because the Rangers got Nash for way less than they should have.

How the hell do you know what NostraDarkstone thinks, Darkstone? As a man of science you shouldn't have anything to do with this mystical prediction stuff.

Half of science is making predictions based on previous observations. :nerd:

Thank God Piole and the Preds ownership got that money printing machine up and running. With the Howson lunacy completed but a day ago, this deal would have been too much to bear.

The Flyers got Hartnell & Timmonen from Nashville for nothing. The Predators had to take a stand at some point.

they got their rights, for a first round pick.

different then getting them signed, and for nothing.

still a great move obviously, but it wasn't exactly nothing.

the flyers also got hamhuis' rights from the preds too, but you'll have to ask vancouver how that's treating them (lol @ the pens)

If all it took to get Weber was a 1st round pick you & every other Flyers fan would be jumping for joy. Hartnell & Timmonen were great acquisitions for the Flyers. Nashville didn't get anywhere near fair value for them.

Losing Suter & Weber in the same offseason would have been too big a pill to swallow for the organization & the fans.

This is the reason why Vancouver chose not to sign Shea Weber to an offer sheet as the #Preds made it very clear they would match #Canucks

the thing about it is ... Gillis admitted they were going to offer 1 year at 14 million

first ... how? (no cap space for that)
second ... it would have probably worked better than Holmgrens offer sheet structure, no?

Just don't understand why Epp/Bousquet would talk publicly about franchise preference while the offer sheet was in limbo. Seems dumb.

yep!

Ouch. Way to dig that we haven't won the cup in a while. I mean, that's so cold you could use it as a heatsink for your giant laser.

if the flyers got weber for hartnell and timonen i would be jumping for joy too?

clearly the preds didn't think they could come to terms with hartnell and timonen, so they got what they could for them before they entered unrestricted free agency (much different than RFA)

i'm not saying timonen and hartnell are just worth a 1st rounder.. but the preds got a 1st round pick for 2 players that had about a week left in the tenure as predators

when have you ever seen a UFA in late june get traded for more than a draft pick or two?
