This is a real possibility. Wonder if things just heated up in Scot's office this morning?

Something tells me one or two heads around here are going to explode when they see the deal Kirk finally gets, and I would say I feel about 90% confident it will be with us.

Could you imagine the fan revolt if somehow KC left? He is going to get paid. It's just a matter of by whom and when.

I think it would bring mixed reaction. We are a small group here and we cant REALLY agree on how much Kirk should be paid and some are making veiled comments that maybe we shouldnt resign him in any event. I think the larger fan base still have some hoping he wont be here unless its on a cheap one year prove it deal. And I think some would rejoice if we ended up either forced to draft a QB, or keeping the last guy.

On 106 today, they floated the idea of what would the Redskins do if Shanahan offered the Skins a 1st this year and next year for Kirk to join him in SF.

IF worst comes to worst they will just franchise KC. But if Shany get hired in SF it does make SM uneasy about getting him signed. NO way KC is leaving DC. Even if we get two first rounders for him, SM will turn it down. Goff is the only QB in the draft that is worth it and the Browns will be taking him at #2 overall.

Live by the motto anything that can fuckup will fuckup. If SF offers two first rounders, one of them being the 7th over all pick... I get the feeling there will be tons of internal debate on this and a tad bit of wrangling from the owner.

Also dont rule out the Browns taking Lynch at #2.

Lynch at #2 is way too risky especially after his bowl game. Goff is the #1 QB in this draft hands down. If our organization would consider the two first rounders than we are just plain stupid. The only way you consider it if it guarantees us Goff which it doesn't so its a moot point.

I believe that - by a large margin - most Redskins fans want Cousins to stay & won't really have an issue with a large contract. However - as you saw in those ESPN comments the other day - there are is a small percentage of RG3 worshipers that would rejoice if Cousins leaves. Their numbers are small but they are vocal (and stupid).

As for the 49ers - I see no way that they would offer up the farm for Cousins in terms of picks & $$. They have way too many holes on that team to take that risk. Their FO (& probably Shanahan) would be skeptical about trading away the farm given the results of the RG3 trade. I have no doubt that Cousins will be on the Redskins next season, but I guess people need to talk about things now that the Redskins season is over.

It was just an idea floated by the Junkies. Not a real rumor. That being said if KC gets away, Dan, and Jay will lose the entire locker room. Guy has a franchise year and you don't take care if him. Not the message you want to send to your team and other guys around the league. This will get done.

Don't rule out that Titans trading out of that first pick. They don't need a QB and there are teams that would love to move ahead of Cleveland for the top QB.

very true jy. Scherfener is reporting the 49ers job is coming down to two names. Shanny and Kelly.

The only guy here I know that would be happy to see Kirk leave is Sty. I can't imagine we'd end up parting ways with Kirk, but if we want to make sure he doesn't leave, we need to slap the exclusive rights franchise tag on him. If so, that would be around $25M. Having said that, I'm not so sure Shanny would be willing to part with that much to get Kirk. For that reason, I doubt what he's peddling would constitute the price of admission for any such trade talks Remember that Shanny stated / intimated in an interview with I believe Grant and Danny on 106.7 that it wasn't his idea to trade for Robert on grounds that it was way too rich for his blood.

Also, if there's a possibility that Shanny may try and fetch Kirk, that might get things working in his camp as well. While any potential bidding war would definitely drive up the price for his services, he may not want to go to a crumbling team like San Francisco. He likes it here (no pun intended), he's familiar with the offense, he's got the support of those in football operations, and, believe it or not, the Redskins are a team on the rise. Going to another team would mean he'd have to learn a new system and basically start all over for a team that may be rebuilding for a long time.

Youd have to at least consider it imo.

I meant consider taking 2 firsts for cousins. Has nothing to do with lynch imo.
Then who the hell is our QB?
