I'd agree with this if Charlotte were just another ho-hum 44-win team with Divac. That was not the case, however.

They won 54 games in '97 and 51 in '98 before age and injuries took its tool on the likes of Rice and Mason, and they haven't reached those win totals since. The reason no one remembers these teams was because no one was beating Jordan in the east at that time, even though the Pacers took them to the edge in 1998.

Bottom line was that the Charlotte roster was constructed at the time as a win-now team and not one that could afford to wait for Kobe to develop. And there's no telling if his development would have gone quite as smoothly and quickly without Shaq camping in the lane and drawing in defenses.

Key reason why the Hornets haven't won anything since? Jordan making basketball decisions.

If you say so. They were handcuffed in the Kemba Walker ordeal, though.

So Kemba is the reason they haven't won anything then?

Ok, how about a bet that their record will be worse than the 39-43 they were last year?

I argued early on in the discussion that they shouldn't keep Kemba. That would only lock them into mediocrity, it's actually one of the few good decisions the Hornets have made (although I question whether they made that choice for that reason). They SHOULD however have traded him for assets moving forward instead of losing him for nothing. Heck, even low 1st rounders would be better than nothing...

Eddie was pretty underrated and a pesky defender. At this point, I would take Jones

Eddie Jones. Pretty easy decision IMO.

@HurricaneDij39

Put up or shut up. You too much of a pussy to take the bet?

What am I saying? Of course you are.
I'm not taking this retarded bet. The original argument was not that the Hornets are better without Kemba. The argument was that they needed to let him walk to avoid paying the luxury tax on a team that hovered around 35 wins every year.

And had they traded him in February, chances are they would've had to pay the tax on an even worse team than they'd have with him...

Luxury tax was never even mentioned. Shopson said the Hornets suck because of Jordans basketball decisions, you blamed it on Kemba.
