There are some good young QBs in the league now. And kaepernick might be joining them soon as well.

Aaron Rodgers will lead to charge and be motivated to get revenge for his best friend Alex Smith and the heinous treatment he's received from the diabolical 49ers.

The pregame speech will be "This one is for Alex!" as the Packers try to make Colin Kaepernick look as bad as possible so 49ers message boards around the world can engage in pointless and endless debates on if starting Kaepernick was the right move. Names will be called, people banned, and threads locked.

Haha!! This thought crossed my mind as well.

The effectiveness of Justin Smith in the pass rush will tell the story. If the 49ers pull this one out it will be one of the bigger wins in the team's history.

even with a healthy Justin, i liked our defense last yr more so than this year despite Aldon's imrpoved sack #....

but its not on Justin, Aldon needs to step up/break out(like he did in game 1 this yr) and Ray and Brooks needs to bring it to another level to cover up Justin Smith not going full strength...

They were so much more dynamic last year with all the turnovers they forced. They've gone back to the old soft bend but don't break scheme. I never understood the blitz scheme backed by soft coverage that the 49ers seemed to love so much.

it would be a good win no doubt, but "one of the bigger wins in the team's history"? for me, nope.

there were bigger wins such as winning SB's, and play-off wins. big wins in the regular season are when we need it to make the play-offs, or were big
underdogs.

we're favored to win on Saturday and i think that line is about right.

I agree - the pass rush in general will determine the outcome of this game; no pass rush - no victory, IMO.

Please don't put any serious money on it. At the risk of getting hammered for being negative, this is a game where a lot of money will be made by those taking GB and I trust the person implicitly who told me this. Everything points to a Green Bay win but you know, that's why they play the game. No one thought the Niners could beat N.O. last year but they did. I think this would be a "big" win because this will be the toughest game they'll play in the playoffs.

Even if they don't sack him a bunch of times, if they get in his grill and make him uncomfortable they could have success. The blueprint will be last year's Super Bowl.

I just don't think we can cover their receivers for an extended period. The run game should not be a problem for us even without JS, but without pressure, I fear a long day.

i won'tput SERIOUS money on it.

but do feel we can win just as much as them, in fact a little more. either way, we don't have excuses - including refs.

That's the fear and Rodgers is so accurate that he only needs a small window to complete a pass. You gotta make him uncomfortable. The Pack will definitely be one-dimensional but can the 49ers stop that one dimension?

If we still had Hunter and Manningham and a healthy Justin Smith I would like the 49ers' chances at home. I fear the difference will be Aaron Rodgers and I don't know how you get around that without a pass rush.

I thought you hated him and he was terrible?

No! I think he has a chance to be a good one. I wish they had waited a bit to put him in there but he shows some real good skills for a guy with no experience.

I have to admit though I saw nothing I liked about him at all in the pre season. I thought that the QB position was where we had the biggest drop off between first and second string.

He's still mad at us for the way we treated Alex Smith too so look out.

He's also mad that he's playing someone with a better (not sole) chance at beating him. But I wouldn't be surprised if he actually didn't like what happened with Smith, although I feel he already has all the motivation in the world to win and take it out on the team he wanted to go to but passed over him. He also wants to make up for last year, IMO. He's one of the most motivated players I've seen for a long time, taking slights from everywhere. I wouldn't put him on Jordan's level, but he does count his slights. (I also believe we can beat a motivated Rodgers if our team plays well to their potential.)

From some comments I've read after the Bears game on articles and other message boards, this is how people thought, too. It's just the shoe was on the other foot, they think the gap between Kaep and Alex is the biggest drop off. (I think I'm using the term correctly?) It might be true, I just want to see the postseason to know more. I already have Kaep > Smith, I just wouldn't say it's the biggest unless Kaep can play well this postseason. As far as postseason goes, Alex has a good and a so-so game so far. (I don't only count WR yards, I count Davis and Gore, too.)
