I will say I didnt hate the idea of the Graveman trade at the time in terms of player value. Key word being at the time. The two things that were not necessarily known at the time is how much of a negative impact trading Gravemen would be perceived and how big of an impact Toro would have. Safe to say sans a couple of clutch hits this was just an F of a deal.I missed that one but I can proudly say I was amongst a few of us on here who said the Graveman thing could bite us this way and I know a few of us also said the Seager thing was garbage and could be seen as bad management. Not sure of any negativity regarding Felix so that one I can honestly say I personally didn't see coming.
But hell yes Dipoto and his smug arrogant attitude has to turn people off and these things mentioned have to have put it over the top. You nailed it!!!!
Well said and I agree.I will say I didnt hate the idea of the Graveman trade at the time in terms of player value. Key word being at the time. Is it possible this fabricated a bit? Sure but the facts are Dipoto has signed two free agent hitters in 7 years and they were Tim Beckham and Nori Aoki. And the more offseasons that pass that we sit out of Free agency, the more stuff like this becomes more of a reality.
As a fan, yes if we are unable to sign free agents because of the GM/Pres then I definitely want him to go. However for Stanton and Co., this is best case scenario. Dipoto can sell them perfectly on building a completive roster and not spending more then necessary. Sucks but thats reality. Dipoto this way can forever talk out the side of his mouth and concoct these word salads to try and keep sounding smart.
I can just see the presser in three weeks: " Jared Kelenic and Taylor Trammel have had phenomenal offseasons and are in the best shapes of their lives. We feel completely comfortable having them in the everyday lineup. Blah Blah Blah"
